For Old Time’s Sake: Antonio McDyess (http://www.slamonline.com/online/media/slam-tv/2010/10/for-old-times-sake-antonio-mcdyess/)
SLAM

Man, was I excited when Antonio McDyess was traded to the Knicks in ‘02. Granted, he was coming off knee surgery and not everybody was happy about the trade but his ability, when healthy, was top tier. Then, of course, he re-aggravated the same knee injury in the pre-season and the Knicks were left without a dominant big man for about 8 years and counting. McDyess was a beast at Alabama and a huge force when he came into the league with the Nuggets. He could jump and throw down with the best of them and was an exciting player to watch. In the ‘00-01 season, he averaged 20 and 12 in Denver and made the All-Star team. After his bouts with injuries, McDyess re-invented himself as a mid-range/post player who could still do work on the boards. He currently plays for San Antonio but payed in Detroit from 04-09 and had two earlier stints in Phoenix. Shout out to Dustin A for sending in the vid.

the hell why didn't I see none of those highlights last season..just kidding..wish he had some hops like that, damn knee injury, guy was a beast when he was younger..I always remember one game against the spurs when I was younger I believe it was duncans rookie year, and he was playing for the nuggets and Mcdyess would get Duncan in the post on every posession and Mcdyess made about every fade away jumper on Duncan that night I was so pissed.

Damn Dice was a BEAST when he was young. Dude had crazy, crazy hops and could throw it down with the best of them. Not to mention he is a very class guy as well. If the Spurs could somehow pull off another title, man oh man I would be the happiest for this guy...he deserves it more than anyone.

In his prime he was pretty much Amare Stoudemire with rebounding and defense.

Other than the defense that Rasheed Wallace played on Duncan, I always thought McDyess was his toughest match up until the knee injury.

that's why DX (and some others) compare Derrick Favors to the pre injury Dice.

If MCDyess was still tearing it up he would not be on the spurs.

Dice sure has some hops in those days.. but the first min or so of the video is boring as hell. It involves Dice jumping and dunking one-handed most of the time. It gets more interesting the later part but the 1st min of so, I thought I was watching the same dunk over and over again.
