Maybe y'all already know this but I work in a building with a civil engineering firm and I talk to one of the guys every once in a while and he was telling me that on Tuesday they are breaking ground on making Bulverde rd a 7 lane rd with bike lanes between Evans and 1604. Pretty cool since my parents live in Encino Park and I hate the traffic driving to their house especially between 12 midnight and 11:59 PM.

should be completed around 2025 if they go at the same speed they have on other highway projects around here...

I'm sure Terri Hall will be around to be a halt to this project too. Just give it time, the obstructions have a lot on their plate, ya know.

I asked him how long the project was and he said 2.5 years, and I replied, so it will be done in 3.5 years?

Not a lot of time left. Ground breaking is 6 days from now.

Plus (and I may be wrong since I am not following it very much), as I understood it, she is opposed to building a toll road with tax money (paying for the street twice). This is just a straight road built with tax money.

sounds more like a renovation imho. the old tarry road has been jagged through time and needs to be renewed. I don't think the road will get broader than before because buildings alongside the old road would need to be torn down if the width was to be expanded. the road will remain the same width after the renovation imho, except the harm against tires will be reduced.

My grandparents until a couple of years ago lived on Bulverde Rd (the one closer to 1604) - 1604/281 was a stop sign - couldn't even turn right; 281 stopped at 1604 - and was a two lane, non-divided out to their house.

Early '80's.

Sprawl sucks.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how that Super Street works out. I've lived in plenty of places where it they work just fine, but here it will depend on the willingness of the drivers to learn it. So far, the only people I've seen coming to a dead halt in the middle of 281/Evans with that "hit on the head with a stick look" are drivers well into their 70's, whose driving skills are not too sharp anyway.
