there should be 2 mvp's in that case.

And also the coveted "America used to like me but now thinks I'm a douche" award. aka the Richard Nixon Trophy. Its not given every year, only when a national figure really fucks his own shit up.

Probably not 2 more MVPs. Its possible, but he'll be getting the "but he has so much help" line from alot of the voters now. I'd put money on 1, and you do give him 5 years to do it so its not a huge stretch, but it'll be alot harder than when he was the clear-cut "man" on his team.

jdiggy0424
10-12-2010, 04:40 PM
Since the MVP voting system is so screwed up and biased i feel that in that stretch the heat will win 65+ games and Stern (because of there success and homerism towards lebron, ratings etc) will give Lebron the award at least 2 more times in that span. Voters will vote for him, and dont be suprised if he puts up numbers close to 27 10 and 8. He is going to be playing a lot of minutes and his stats will probably be inflated due to it.

Plus hes Lebron, and just like Kobe no matter if we love him or hate him, we love to watch him. Just ask Kobe.

I think he has a real shot at being the second guy to ever average a triple double for an entire season. He's already pretty close, and with this Heat team there are 1.) Much better players to throw passes too, and 2.) A lack of rebounding in some of their lineups which creates an opportunity for boards. Plus he's always talked about how much he likes passing. Idk that he'll have 27 ppg in this hypothetical season though.

If he does that, its a guaranteed MVP.

Yeah i see that happening too. When i brought up the idea to my cousins, they just laughed at me lol. But he can rebound, pass and score. Maybe if he rebounds well and the heat become one of the better defensive teams, then he has a legitimate shot at winning a DPOY too. Maybe not both in the same season, but one or the other at least.

So, in other words his career is pretty much like Barkley's. At least Chuck can boast of winning a game in the finals.

The difference is that Lebron James is on the best team of his career and is 26-years-old to Barkley retiring at 36. Give James another ten years. Barkley was 3 years older than Lebron when he won his only two Finals games. In terms of scoring, James has a better average in all but one season that would best Barkley's second-best year. He has double the amount of MVPs, he has won 4 more games in a regular season than Barkley. I don't think it's a great comparison.

Mo Williams is the best teammate that he's played with. Shaquille O'Neal is Kobe's best teammate. Pau Gasol is ten times better than anyone who has suited up with Lebron.

I disagree Darrin. Before Pau was a Laker, he was best known as going 0-12 in the playoffs. He wasn't even a top 10 PF - until now. It must be a testament to Kobe actually making his teammates better that you and many other NBA fans have such a high regard for him. I agree, Pau is really good, but the teammates that LeHype had on his team came with bigger "names" than Gasol (i.e. Shaq, Jamison). Difference is Kobe knew how to make him better. Can't say the same for LeHype.

Shaq slowed down the offense and made the Cavaliers more of a plotting team. Jamison did almost nothing because the offense asked him to just take jumpshots. Take it up with Mike Brown.

Gasol was getting 20-10-2 as a starter in Memphis. He didn't have a team around him. His greatness was realized, the rest of the team wasn't around him.

No, but I didn't expect the 67-win Mavericks to flame out in the first round or the 64-win Detroit Pistons to miss the NBA Finals. Sometimes teams are hotter than others and they simply lose.

Shaquille O'Neal -- 37-years-old.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas -- 34-years-old.
Antawn Jamison -- 33-years-old with multiple knee injuries.

O'Neal was washed up. The Suns tried to rely on him and didn't get very far with the same squad that made the Conference Finals last season. Antawn Jamison's best days are behind him.

Let me paint in hyperbole: If Joe Dumars and Isiah Thomas were pulled off the street and signed by the Pistons, would they have a better chance to win an NBA Championship than Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton because they won 2 Finals MVPs and 2 Championships between them? You have to consider where these players were in their careers.

At this point, I would take Lamar Odom over any of the players you mentioned.

Mo Williams wasn't an All-Star before he played with Lebron. Doesn't that defeat the theory that he doesn't make teammates better?

Give him six more years. You are comparing a 26-year-old to a 32-year-old with 198 playoff games under his belt. One of those is assumed and it's a heavy assumption. The other five come with a caveat--he lost badly to both the Pistons in 2004, while shooting 33% in the 4 losses, and to the Boston Celtics in 2008, with a 35-point blowout in game six and they blew a lead in LA, let the Celtics take a 3-1 series lead. That's with playing for Phil Jackson and having Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shaquille O'Neal or Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom as teammates.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that it's a referendum on a 26-year-old and his ability to lead a team. One, he's young. Two, he's not the coach. Three, he's not the GM. Four, he bolted for basketball reasons because the team was strapped for cash and what would that team look like in two years?

ok so let me get this straight...You think the Cavs have a crappy team, yet they got the best record twice in a row...

To top all that, you also thought they underacheived and should have gotten past the 2nd round, yet you think that Lebrons teammates sucks.

Kobe had another "finals MVP" next to him these past 2 years?

Did the word similar lose meaning in the English dictionary in the last few minutes?

Depends on how you wanna look at Kobe's legacy. Failed to deliver with a monster team like that, or was just one of the 4 and Shaq was the ringleader, which means he rode those first 3 of his.

To each his own....you just proved that you are biased. Give credit to Shaq for winning and blame Kobe for losing right?

Either you are a "MVP" or you are not. You're not very good at being decisive.

Give him a team with a relevant star or two.... Er, Cleveland couldn't do that.

Says the guy who doesn't consider age when looking at a team.
However you wanna put it.
- kobe won 3 titles as the man, and just failed on one attempt with the best team he's had.
or
- kobe was second fiddle for his first 3, and didn't lead the losing allstar team

or Kobe was second fiddle for 3 titles...failed in one with the best team he's ever had, then won two more titles with a lesser cast then his 3 first ones.

Im not biased like you...i aint cutting out FACTS to help support my case.

Three, he's not the GM.
Actually he was, he could approve/disapprove any trade involving Cleveland.

I remember it wasn't just fans saying that 04 was Kobe's year to start taking over the team. They spoke of it on TV during the finals that year.

ok so let me get this straight...You think the Cavs have a crappy team, yet they got the best record twice in a row...

To top all that, you also thought they underacheived and should have gotten past the 2nd round, yet you think that Lebrons teammates sucks.

Wow...thats alot of expectations on a team that sucks.

Gee, you must have expected the Mavericks, OKC, Boston and San Antonio to win it all since thier team is more stacked then the Cavs right. :rolleyes

One, I didn't say they suck. I said they don't have the same level of talent as the Lakers during Kobe Bryant's five Championship teams. To have the record, despite the weak Conference, indicates they should do more in the postseason, not the way the talent plays together or how it looks on paper or how that relates to the talent around Bryant.
