He says he faked the injury to Nick Young can get more opportunities. Why not just consult the team about it?

Why not leave the gun at home?

What the hell? Why did he fake an injury? Why didn't he just tell the coach that he ate some bad food and feign being sick, something that's a lot easier to fake?

Dude is crazy... He needs to be in a mental institution, not a ball club.

Way to go overboard.

Gilbert is a normal person.

The problem is he got caught doing something illegal while he had a bad contract situation with the Wizards. They wanted out of it, got the opportunity, and now he's the whipping boy.

Many players fake injuries, and he's not the only player on this planet to break the law.

The Wizards are just abusing Gilbert now. And fans like you are falling for it.

I don't really see this as a big deal since it's the pre-season. It's actually kind of nice of him.

I thought he's been faking injuries for the better part of the last 5 years

Gilbert is a normal person.

Normal people resolve disputes with teammates by bringing guns into the locker room?

Flip Saunders says Gilbert Arenas comments are “untrue.” Which is sort of untrue itself. (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/14/flip-saunders-says-gilbert-arenas-comments-are-%e2%80%9cuntrue-%e2%80%9d-which-is-sort-of-untrue-itself/)
Kurt Helin

Flip Saunders wants to put the idea that Gilbert Arenas conned him and lied to him (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/13/gilbert-arenas-fakes-injury-to-sit-out-preseason-game/) so Nick Young could get a little more burn.

That’s not how it went down, Saunders told ESPN Radio 980 (http://www.espn980.com/) in the nation’s capital (via Sports Radio Interviews (http://sportsradiointerviews.com/2010/10/14/flip-saunders-says-that-gilbert-arenas%E2%80%99-comments-are-untrue-but-the-team-still-fined-him/)).

I talked to Gilbert at shootaround, he said his knee was sore, and I told him at that point that he was not going to play. Whatever comments beyond that that Gilbert made, those are untrue comments. He might think that and I know he’s very close to Nick and that, but as I told him and the rest of our team, those guys don’t determine even if Gilbert doesn’t play, who does play. That’s what I do as far as determine. We’ve dealt with it internally, Gilbert is going to be fined for it, and we move on.”

Saunders also stuck up for Arenas as very coachable.

As I said last night, believe it or not, Gilbert has been in my two years here, coaching wise, he’s been the easiest guy that I’ve had to coach. From when I ask him to do something, he has done everything I’ve asked him to do from a players standpoint. Gilbert can be his own worst enemy as far as talking too much and I really believe this, he looks at himself as being Nick’s mentor. He likes to see Nick do good, but for him to make those comments, those are unjustified type comments.”

Saunders tried, but this really doesn’t change anything. If Arenas went to Saunders and said he had soreness in his knee — a knee that has cost him more games and caused more trouble the last three years than any guns — when that was not the case, then Arenas was in the wrong. If Arenas did have soreness in his knee (which is understandable, frankly) then tried to spin it as something else to the press, then Arenas was wrong. Gilbert may see that as a Catch-22, but it is the reality. Stick with the truth, whatever that may be.

Fine him and move on. The Wizards need to be focusing on the future and John Wall, anyway.

Wizards’ Arenas leaves game with groin injury (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=txwizardsarenasinjury)

Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas left his first home game since being suspended for bringing guns to the Verizon Center last season with a strained right groin.

Arenas didn’t start Thursday night’s preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks, two days after faking a knee injury to miss a home game. He left after playing three minutes in the first quarter.

Arenas didn’t attempt a shot, but had three steals, a rebound, an assist and a blocked shot. He teamed with John Wall on some neat passes.

Arenas entered with 7:05 to play in the first quarter to tepid applause from the sparse home crowd and seemed to savor playing with Wall before asking out of the game three minutes later.

He was fined Wednesday for saying he had a sore left knee.

his heart was bleeding and the punishment definitely had worsened the injury.
