nbalive94,95,96,97,98,99 were actually really good games, then 2000,03,06

nba jam 2on2 lead the way for many other 2on2 or 3on3 games

smoother graphics dont mean shit, if the gameplay is crap....

Yeah, 2000 is around the time the Ps1 was released, which was the first system to allow real processing power for shadows and lighting.

Big jump too in the ~2007 era, where real-time lighting and more advanced visual techniques came into the picture like depth of field, etc.

I'm selling Visual Concepts short. NBA 2K back in 1999 raised the bar for graphics.

You're also missing Virtua Racing for the racing section which is like the first (?) 3D- polygonal racer, released in 1992.

Agreed... first realistic looking rain/snow too. Everyone played in blizzard conditions just because of how cool it was.

And for Live 95, at least find a picture with the Spurs and Rodman and his white hair :lol

Graphics have gotten so ridiculously good nowadays, they don't even impress me anymore. All these system X looks better than system Y arguments are bullshit to me. The Coleco Vision was my first console, and I've had just about every console along the way and countless PCs. Now I just looks for games that blow my socks off with a good storyline, or unique gameplay.

Yes, F.E.A.R. did release in 2005, my mistake.

However, Crysis is still considered to be the high bar for First Person Shooters in terms of graphical prowess, so until something supersedes it, it is best representative of what graphics are capable of today.

Counterstrike? Oh, absolutely.

The only thing I dislike about Counterstrike (and this is a single dislike in a sea of loves) is the fact that often times it was far too defensive of a game. Dust 2 was an amazing map because there was no real advantage for either side. the elevation advantage the Ts had was curbed somewhat by the fact that they also had to plant a bomb.

Other than that though, there were times on certain maps that I felt completely helpless to do anything, because the CTs would just lock their side down and sit on it with awps. Even with smoke, against good players it is almost impossible to penetrate defenses unless your team knows precisely how to behave and respond, and even then it can put you at a disadvantage.

I always found CS was slightly CT sided (for detonation, T sided for hostage rescue but de_ was the only league supported mode). A good CT team could rape terrorists time and time again unless they really had their shit together.

Of course, pug or pub, the t's often have a big advantage simply by forcing their will down 1 site's throat and a lack of communication ruining any chance for reinforcements.

Strictly speaking from a scrimming pov, I am not trying to bullshit you but d2 is a general T sided map. I also don't see this elevation advantage o__o.

Agreed certain maps are very ct sided but even great awpers fall to counter awps. It really takes coordinated teamwork (unless your team is >>>>>>>> than the opposing team in aim) at the international tournament level to break through any ct because it is much easier to play ct than T

Yup for scrimming it is de anyways but at the professional level, a team won't usually rape the other one (unless they are very good or just got amazingly lucky)

I'm aware that Dust2 is a T favored map. There are too many ways T can go to force a bomb plant for CT to stop. However, it was such a dynamic map and it was about as close to balanced as any map could be, I think CS_Office was probably one of the few standard maps that offered a similar level of play, although that also favored T because of the long hallway.

You don't see the elevation advantage? T starts on top of a ramp at the highest point on the map, while CTs start at the very lowest and have to work their way up. Yes, they can rush to A to even the playing field, but even then they are only better situationally because Ts can hard rush far right or go through mid to A, or both.

Elevation is a huge advantage because you can see the enemy's entire torso when they can only see your upper shoulders/etc. It also gives you more distance on smoke/flash/nades, and makes it easier to funnel throws down toward the CTs. I would say the choke points arguably favor Ts as well, because of how many forward areas they have to hide.
