I'm not a smart man, and too old-school when it comes to these two peoples (and I know this thread was created to make fun of the Vanilla Ice v MC Hammer-types) but color me retarded . . .

In all seriousness, Em at least comes across as genuine. I'm a blues/metalhead (think Down's Nola and you know what I dig) but I can feel Em's lyrics and vibe much more than Weezy's. People seem to love to rag on Em because he's "the white guy" and they just don't feel comfortable with giving him respect because he's "the white guy" (the Vanilla Ice effect), but the dude's legit. He does and goes places others wouldn't dare to, which is why he was able to overcome his whiteness.

I got respect for Em. Like most that succeed in any genre, he's blues-based. I can dig that.
