is anyone else tired of these endless shows that fix up homes and redesign homes
the stupidest part is that they feel it necessary to get the biggest gay guy to do all the decorating and designing, i like gay people, but are they really that good at home decorating that they have everyjob on tv?
even worst is that guy with blonde hair on extreme makeover homes, he's not too gay but he his clothes are like straight from american eagle and he trys to be like a fashionable 17 year old kid when he's obviously like 45
anyway those shows blow and alot of other reality type shows
its like if yall know a gay dude whos really really gay, make a home tv show and get paid.

I hate those home decorating shows too. If you want to decorate your home, then DO IT! Watching other people decorate THEIR home is not going to get YOURS fixed up! How much time in the US is wasted watching others work? IF you want to know how to do carpentry, go slip a carpenter $50 bucks to watch him for the day.

they give women too many damn ideas and they expect you to do everything they saw done on tv!

Naahh...I learned long ago that if I want something done (especially in a timely matter) I have to do it myself. My entry way is two story. It certainly wasn't my husband that was up on the ladder doing some faux painting.

Manuel has heard my rant on these shows - I hate them like nobody's business. They market them to as being shows that make decorating on a modest budget easy. That's crap. All the budget rooms look like hell because they do shit like put giant blocks of nasty color up on the wall at random and expect it to be this wonderful space-filler, and the price of unpainted and used furniture has fucking skyrocketed because every desperate housewife out there now thinks she can put a crackle finish on it and be the coolest thing on her block.

I crackled my mantle long before I ever saw it on a home show. I was ahead of my time.
My neighbor does faux painting and makes pretty good money doing it. Some of the stuff she does is amazing.

the wifey watches these shows, and so, when i'm home, i do too at times.
the home makeover one where they build new homes to help people out is cool.
it's nice to see peeps get such a wonderful home that they wouldn't have been able to get any other way.
as for the TLC trading spaces, etc. I'll watch with wifey if they have a good looking designer on. and it's sad that they let paige go...we'll miss you paige.
Anyhow, i think it's pretty neat the way they can make rooms look good. I'm more funtional than anything though, as I think most men are. And i'm not much for clutter. Although you wouldn't be able to tell from the way my cubicle looks right now....doh.

Faux painting isn't all bad, it has its place, just not on every piece in the house. These shows get crackle-happy.

I agree--And on the shows, they really do a schlocky (did I just invent a word??) job. I've read interviews of people who were on Trading Spaces and a lot of them were not happy. Especially if Hildi was the designer. Remember when she glued hay to the wall?
The trend is now going towards textured walls. My neighbor did her hallway with plaster and paint to look like stone. It's awesome. And you wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't.

Remember when TLC actually was The Learning Channel and had BBC documentaries and educational programming? That was before it became The Lifetime (home) Channel.

Bingo! I hate that so much. You could actually learn things there before it became "reality learning" tv,

Remember when Discover was a channel that didn't only show Monster Garage and American Chopper?

American Chopper is pretty cool.

I don't get complaining about tv. If it sucks just turn it off.

cool thing about american chopper... father and son have small bike business then get a tv show. now they have a huge business, had to move out of the old crappy garage and now have all sorts of equipment to make even better bikes. it is cool to see them grow.
and mikey..he is fucking hilarious! especially that commercial where is dancing to wild thing...

That wasn't the point. The point is that Discovery changed the type of programs that made up their lineup from what I guess Manny and I used to appreciate, to a bunch of home rebuild/junk shows.

there are many shows that show the stuff your looking for.
maybe i'm spoiled with directv, i dunno.
discover, history, etc have the other shows on as well, but no doubt home makeover shows are dominant, especially in housewife is home time slots.
i have no interest in american chopper, but i'll check out pimp my ride sometimes. i need to get the lumina on there, but it's not ghetto enough...
i think some of those bastards buy a crappy car for cheap that they want fixed up and then send in the tape. i can't believe some of the crap these people say the drive on a daily basis.

Mikey is hilarious! He is always talking about how no one pays any mind to him and that his brother loves the media attention.
My fave is Paul Sr. He is cool. :hat

I know what you mean! The girl that drove the Civic(I think) that had standing water on the floor in the back seat because it had no window! Ewww! Overhauling does a much better job fixing the cars up. The always put in new high performance engines. PMR is more flash and glitter, although X is always funny.

I like the designer shows 'cause they give me great ideas that I'll never do but it's the thought that counts.
