Tracy McGrady- Point Guard court vision, Pippenesque wingspan and reach, Jordan's offensive repertoire and DR J.'s hops. Too bad he's a quitter and was injury prone. I think a healthy and driven T-Mac couldve been a Top 10 Player of All time.

Team

06-07 Golden State Warriors

They already made history by beating a 1st seed on a 7 game series format. I really thought that team was going to win the championship after beating the Mavericks, maybe I was bias considering I grew up in the Bay Area.

Team:

Dallas Mavericks 98-2010 after not trading Jason Kidd away, pairing Dirk and Kidd through their whole career/prime. The rest of the team is easy to fill: a shooter, a slasher and a center that can catch the ball.

The finals Nets lacked a true star that could score on any iso play if the team was desperatly need to score.

Keeping Kidd = No Finley, and with no Finley, Don Nelson gets fired, meaning No Dirk.

Richard dumas ...nice call.
But I suggest one Derrick coleman. Anyone that saw him dominant a playoff series in the early 90's (i forget the year) vs. the Cavs ...knows about the immense potential DC had. I know he took a lot of heat from Chuck the media for being an under achiever but i think people forget how good he really was. I remember an SI article back in the day about wasting hs gifts ...but for that one series Coleman put it all together. He blocked shots, boarded, passed and hit jumpers and domnated that series in all facets. He was like a cross between dirk, Lamar Odom with a bit of Rasheed Wallace (the good parts) ... as a matter of fact Rasheed is an honorable mention here as well...

honorable mention:

Kendall gill
Drazen Petrovich
Rasheed
Roy tarpley
Penny hardaway

Injuries, fast cars, drugs and mental issues stopped these guys from being HOF'ers ...IMHO

but tbh, I agree with the OP somewhat. I never thought GS would actually win it all but if they were to keep making those 1 foot, behind the back shots from halfcourt in the later rounds, I don't know who would've beat them.

Walt Williams had a shitload of talent and could have been so much more than he was. The Wizard loved alcohol a little too much and never really worked on his physique and conditioning. He was more than just a good but unspectacular shooter who would chuck a lot of shots, but history will basically remember him that way.

Co-sign whoever mentioned Derrick Coleman. Dude had all the skill in the world. But cocaine is a helluva drug.

I thought Larry Hughes could have gone down as one of the great guards of the last 10-15 years. Really good scoring ability, instinctive point guard skills in a 2-guard body, and had the ability to be a lockdown defender to boot. Never really put it all together (maybe that one year in Washington arguably) and never really worked that hard on improving his game.

I'm interested in your take on that 1997 Pistons team.

Lindsey Hunter
Joe Dumars
Grant Hill
Theo Ratliff
Otis Thorpe
Terry Mills
Mike Curry
Aaron McKie
Grant Long
Don Reid
Jerome Williams
Rick Mahorn

The Pistons would add Brian Williams who would turn in a great season in 1997-98. By 1998, they would make Hunter the point guard again, Thorpe was gone for the pick that became Darko, and Jerry Stackhouse would replace Ratliff. If they had Otis Thorpe, if he hadn't divided the locker room, they would've had a big rotation of Thorpe, B. Williams, and Ratliff with Jerome Williams, Don Reid, and Terry Mills spelling them. If they had held onto McKie, an eventual 6th Man of the Year, Terry Mills--the Pistons Sixth Man in 1997--and Mike Curry they would've had a great bench. Unfortunately, they would lose Mills and Curry to free agency. They lost a leader in Curry.

It seems like the Pistons were ready to win a Championship, or at least contend for one, and Michael Jordan was entering his last year with the Bulls. But the mutiny against Collins changed this team for good. It's so sad.

Walt Williams? what a bizzarre pick, the guy was aone dimensional shooter. even if he tried to put more work in his game he'd be Glen Rice at best, thats a weird pick.

here's my list.

Eddie Jones- if Kobe's ass never forced himself to be drafted by the Lakers, LA fans are probably less douchier and dumber right now because they'll actually root for a classy guy in Eddie jones. EJ can do a lot of things Kobe can. Granted he's not an explosive scorerm but he's better defensively, a better team player and he'll defer to Shaq with no problems.

Len bias=nuff said

Scottie Pippen- dude was such a talented player. very versatile and intense defensively, sadly he never had a killer mentality like jordan. he's practically a quitter (game 6 NY knicks 94 playoffs) just like kobe, but with a hotter wife.

team

cleveland cavaliers 2010

that team was an elbow injury away from winning an nba title. THE CAVS WOULD EASILY DESTROY THE LAKERS LAST YEAR WITH A HEALTHY BRON. FACT. check their regular season match up last year. gasol was overwhelmed by shaq, varejao and jj hickson. lebron was an mvp last year for a reason and you can see in kobe's eyes that he knows its lebron time. bron was ready to just snatch that championship trophy from mr. 6/24.
