Those that know me are aware I have been unkind to the Heat since "The Decision" and this thread is in no way a slap at them. In fact, what follows may be a huge compliment to the Heat, it just doesn't look like that at first.
Here's the poll: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?sportIndex=nba&pollId=99890
We know ESPN is hyping the Heat, fine. What the poll results show by the map is America and the world doesn't care, only Florida voted a majority. At first glance, this looks pretty bad, especially for ESPN.
But is it really? You can scroll your mouse over states to see how they voted. Ohio shows 19% of 2059 voters have tuned in.
Think of it this way, it's the preseason. How many people have tuned in to the other marquis franchises' games? I would suspect most states would vote under 10%, if that high.
I guess my thread is more of a bash against ESPN. The results look bad for Miami, but they probably are excellent. Hopefully, they run a similar poll once the regular season starts.
Myself, I caught a few minutes of one game. I'll try to catch every game they play on ABC, TNT, and ESPN this season.
