other than the poor depictions of spurs players, i like it. the modern superheroes of today looking up at tim duncan and the spurs is pretty cool.

oh btw, the espn cover has kobe as iron man, lebron as captain america, and durant as the hammer dude, who i will call thor since i don't know his name. so the idea of them still being overshadowed by the legacy of the spurs is quite good.

Great idea, poor execution. At least Disney is using the company it owns to churn on more crap then ever.

Here's some link I found on some forum with good quality pics with captions.

Here's a all of them pasted at once if you dont want to click through every single one. Picture quality is small though.

Spurs caption says
"Statue of Synergy
The Heat may have the Big Three, but the Spurs have the league's top tenured triumvirate: Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. So Marvel gave its Big Three - Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor - a moment to reflect on the feats of these legends. But is the Spurs' greatness frozen in the past? Not even close. Last season, Duncan, Ginobili and Parker had a combined Player Efficiency Rating of 63.6, the highest for any NBA trio that averaged 25 minutes or more in at least 50 games. Now that's solid."

Pretty cool, good to know we still had the best big 3 last year. Although, the Spurs cover was the only cover where not a single player looked remotely like any player on the team. What's up with that?!

Btw, my vote for best cover is for Houston's Yao Ming cover.

They failed at the Celtics cover though. They are supposed to be the Fantastic Four reincarnated as the Fantastic Five in Celtic green but I thought they were Green Lantern costumes at first then realized that Green Lantern was D.C.

Nets, Lakers are both cool. Rockets would be cool if it actually looked like Yao. Spurs would be cool if they looked like spurs. I can't even figure out who the two guys behind tim are supposed to be, and if it wasn't for the jersey I wouldn't be able to tell its timmy. Also, the concept is good, but I'd prefer them not to be fading to black, or at maybe actually be superheroes themselves.

X-men maybe? pop as dr xavier would be funny.

They are when you are preparing to drop upcoming blockbusters :lol Manu should have been Wolverine though. What a damn shame. Instead they give it to a 7' smiley with no post game.

The complete non-resemblance is a slap in the face, but the concept is perfect.

I think it was during 2008 NO or LA series when Manu had that playoff beard going and was looking Wolverin-ish.

If Marvel had drawn Manu with his back turned to us, he would've been more recognizable than the one they have now.

But I do love the fact that the Spurs' Big Three are not just superheroes, but heroes of the superheroes. :lol
