Actually, Duncan plays team ball and has no problem sharing the glory as long as they win.

He won't selfishly shoot 6-24 in a NBA Finals game 7 and whine and pout like a little girl if he doesn't get all the credit.

Kobe is still the leader of the NBA in this particular category. It is a title that he has earned all by himself.

Giuseppe

This is old, we all know Duncan is a better player all-time than Kobe, who only has volume scoring on him (even though Duncan's ppg averages are lower over his career due to the half court offense and slower pace).

Anyway, hopefully when the Spurs play the Lakeshow, Neal and Kobe don't hit it off because it will be an all you can rape buffet in downtown LA.

We know what happened when Shaq left LA. Lakers fell into obscurity. Kobe started crying and became a chunker. Then in comes a franchise player like Gasol and the Lakers start winning again. Kobe can't carry a team he is just fortunate to constantly have really good players put around him, and not to mention a HOF coach. We all saw what happened in Game 7 of the finals. Proof is in the pudding brother. He's no Jordan.

Giuseppe

Bryant is viewed as reprehensible by Spurs fandom (as well as others). And lets face it, he is a psychopath. Functioning yes, but, one nonetheless. If he weren't on my side I'd begrudge him as well. So when he passes Duncan in total NBA Championships, who is viewed by Spurs fandom (as well as others) as a "Boy Scout" of the highest merit, it is galling.

This is a question about who has more Finals MVPs, not Championships. Feel free to make a topic about Championships instead of derailing this one.

So one player, much like the GOAT Michael Jordan, has not LET his team lose in the Finals?

That means, though he may not make it there every year, once he gets there, its over. TBH that was the thing that impressed me most about Jordan; not the fact that he had 6 championships, but that he never let his team lose in the Finals, the biggest stage.

Everybody has a cross to bear. Kobe has his, as does your Duncan. MJ too. He was suspended a year. Now of course Media sat on it, because that was the deal & the dictate & the decree out of Stern and NY. But, that dog & pony didn't fool this cock-knocker. I know where the bear shits in the buckwheat.

Ipso facto, MJ has touched the dirty end of the stick just like every other living man.

What do you mean he was suspended? He retired after his first three-peat. Didn't it have something to do with his father's murder or something? I cannot recall the story and cbf to google it.

Last time I checked Derek Fisher has never been an all-star or selected to the 3rd-Team All-NBA. Parker is a far better player than Fish has ever been.

It's pretty stupid to argue the legacies of Duncan & Bryant especially since their careers aren't over. The fact that whatever argument is created for each individual by his fanbase is clouded in bias doesn't help matters either.

Giuseppe
10-23-2010, 07:48 PM
Parker is a far better player than Fish has ever been.

It's arguable. Parker is kind of flighty.

Fisher is much more lethal.

J_Paco
10-23-2010, 07:54 PM
It's arguable. Parker is kind of flighty.

There is no argument. Parker is the better player. Parker has developed into one of the better PG's throughout the last decade even with severe flaws (3PT shooting and FT shooting), while Fisher has been a career long role-player that has knocked down some timely shots (0.4 and against Orlando in the Finals). He's been successful in L.A. and Utah because he meshed well with the best players and did what the coached asked of him. He plays within his limitations and rarely gives anything more.

Giuseppe
10-23-2010, 08:02 PM
Parker though has taken a step back in recent times. He is in a drifting pattern, unable to find a place to impact and the actual execution, while Fisher has made his impact with stunning clarity in the last two playoff sessions.

This is a seminal season for Parker. He'll go on from here with you, or, he'll continue to drift and be permitted to disappear.

parker has lost a lot speed which has pretty much pared down his threat. fisher was never quick even in his prime years. quickness and speed are never so vital elements for fisher as for tony parker, that's why the greybeard can still crank out decent outputs, which pretty much resembles Jason Kidd.

Giuseppe
10-23-2010, 08:25 PM
^Yes. And he needs to come to terms with that loss and find another level to live on and impact from.

MiamiHeat
10-23-2010, 08:39 PM
Sure did look like Kobe let Fisher save the Lakers asses in Game 3 of the Finals.

Kobe was AWOL while Fisher clutched 13 points for the Lakers in the 4th quarter? dont remember

oh and LOL @ "let teammate steal spotlight"

Duncan doesn't care about that. He wants to win and will share the spotlight.

Kobe would pout and whine and shoot 6-24 in a game 7 as long as he can get the MVP.

Giuseppe
10-23-2010, 08:50 PM
...But, when it got down to fuck or walk time Kobe went up/couldn't get off, started comin' down/couldn't get it off/the psychosis lifted for a heartbeat/and the sick SOB shoveled.

That and having Sheed bench in the 4th helped the Spurs chances in that game. But I think most people are pointing out that even though you struggled in the pivotal game 7, you should really look at the whole series and not just based it on one game.
