WTF??? I didnt know this. Basically everytime you say "droid" Lucasfilm makes money. Is it from the Star Wars movies? Google is probably paying a ton to them for their Droid Apps!!!!!

Droid is a line of phones made by Motorola and yes, they are paying what I assume is a lot for the rights to the name.

Android is the operating system that runs on droid phones, as well as others. And as far as I know, it is not trademarked.

Actually, it would probably be a combo of verizon and motorola paying Lucas. The entire line of android phones for verizon has the name "droid" as in droid incredible by HTC. Apparently Verizon wants to have that name attached to their android phones as a way to advertise easily.
