Dwight may not be the best player in this game he may not even be 3rd ...
but he had the best 1st quarter of anyone.

he will need more help on offense for te Magic to have a chance to win this one ...

Lebron played some real good defense at the end of that quarter ...he is a MUCH better defender than Wade ...

I don't want to take credit from Howard but not being double teamed and being defended by Anthony and Zilgauskas, he's just doing what he has to.

I'm not basing it on his point totals in this game or anything, I'm basing it on the fact that his jump shot looks good and looked good for the entire preseason..

Howard with a respectable jump shot is scary..

Finally, that pussy Bosh drives..he made a living out of drawing fouls and driving in Toronto, he's been extremely soft in Miami so far..

Killakobe81
10-29-2010, 08:11 PM

HarlemHeat37
10-29-2010, 08:15 PM
Ilguaskas making outside shots is huge for Miami's offense, and it makes up for the fact that he can barely move on D..however, he's fresh right now, if they don't play other bigs, he won't last until the 2nd half of the season..he looked done in Cleveland last year, so they pretty much have to limit his minutes at some point, even though he's a much better fit than Anthony..

Heat defense has been good and the Magic ofense has been shit. howard, and bass only consistent players for Magic they need JJ back.

he is too small (nelson) and Duhon is ass crust.
there was a play where he missed dwight alone on the pnr for a lob ...but then i realized he is so small he probably missed it.

Stu scott I used to like in his old sportscenter Boo ya days ...but he has deterioated in to Ahmad Rashad now that he is a studio host for games. i hate him on MNF too.

As for Orlando tough to see them as better than the heat with Rashard and nelson as starters ...i would trade Gortat, Carter, and a first rounder to Denver for Melo and Smith

PG nelson
SG Smith
SF melo
PF Rashard
C howard

bench
PG duhon
SG Reddick
SF Pietrus
PF Bass
C anderson

Find another deal for a PG and i would like it better and you could bench JR for Pietrus for more defense.

Denver gets a center in Gortat Carter moves to SF or you can play afflalo there ...

not saying denver would do this they get no young talent so i would say no ...but i think orlando needs another reliable scorer for Dwight.

Can't agree with that. Lebron is doing a very good job this game of running the break and finding shooters and cutters within the half-court set.

Arguably, being a pseudo Magic Johnson is Lebron's true role, rather than being a scoring machine like MJ, Kobe, etc...

And Magic himself said he's running a great floor game tonight.

Miami's defense is legit. One thing to consider, however, is that it's still early in the season, so it's doubtful they can sustain this kind of energy over 82 games. But if they summon up this effort in the post-season, they will represent the East, despite a relatively weak frontline. The type of defense they're showing here will skullfuck Allen and Paul Pierce.

Miami's defense is legit. One thing to consider, however, is that it's still early in the season, so it's doubtful they can sustain this kind of energy over 82 games.

It really depends on their conditioning. The Spurs were able to maintain defensive intensity over 82 games*.

as you all know, I left the bandwagon AFTER they won the title, which doesn't make sense, but I didn't like the team they had, and I started to dislike Wade, because of all the Jordan hype..

but now as they struggled early, I started getting the Heat feeling back, and when they got Eddie Jones, that sparked shit for me..so they're my Eas team with SA as my West team..

I've also gained my respect for Wade back, because of all the hype other players are getting..I think he's the 2nd best player in the NBA, next to Kobe, and his game is a lot more complete than guys like Arenas and Melo who are getting hyped, and he can close out games a lot better than that choker Lebron..

I must admit Lebron has improved his defense a great deal. Not DPOY, MJ or kobe when focused or Pippeen or young rodman good... but he has come a looong way props to him.

Is that why Wade's a captain and Lebron is not? Who out of the big 3 was drated by Miami? Are you really that obtuse to argue this point? If you wanna disregard all that (which I'm sure you will, because it basically destroys any argument you have) and go by stats, who is the leading scorer on this team?

I don't think he worded it correctly. Presently, Lebron is a better defender. When he's dialed in, he's arguably the best perimeter defender in the league.

Real talk, no trolling, Kobe's overall defensive impact is greatly exaggerated. Many "experts," (I use the term loosely, but it is what is) have stated he's been making the NBA defensive teams primarily out of reputation. He locks down late in the 4th, sure, but Kobe often plays average defense before he goes into "doberman" mode.

It's understandable, he's an offensive player first, a defensive player second, so he needs to wisely distribute his energy throughout the game, but Kobe hasn't played consistent, elite level defense since '00.

I agree here. LeBron has always had the tools to be a great defender, but he never really applied himself till 2008-09. When his head is in the game, he's damn near impossible to score on.

Yeah. Lebron needs to be the all-tool guy for this team. Wade should be the primary option, Lebron the playmaker and primary defender.

Good averages for Lebron would be 19p, 9a, 7r, 50%, while playing defense like a motherfucker and only dominating the offense when necessary (if Wade's on the bench, etc...).

I never said he didn't. I'm talking elite level, Bowen, Artest territory. He can play elite in stretches, but I don't think his performance on the defensive end has merited first team selections year after year.

Lakersground post from way back in '05 from a Lakers fan:

"but my basis of kobe being a overrated defender is watching the games. Don't get me wrong, kobe is a great defender, when he wants to be. I understand he has to carry the offense, but I definitely see his defense slip alot, whether it's from conserving energy or what not. He gambles to much, and plays the lanes to much. Especially the last 2 years. He needs to concentrate on staying with his man more. Again, he can be as good a defender as anyone, and he was 3-4 years ago. But as of now, it's mostly from his past reputation that he's considered a great defender."

And nothing has really changed much from '05. Again, it's not a knock on him. Jordan was really the only SG who was elite on both ends. Kobe's an elite offensive player and a strong defender, but not the best perimeter defender in the league, or of his era, like 21_Blessings and a few other Kobe fanboys have claimed.

Hard to find excuses for the Magic's effort, not like they're tired since its their 2nd game of the season and they didn't play heavy minutes from destroying the Arenas-less Wizards. This was a game that the Magic FO were really preparing for, lol @ SVG and Otis shit talking over the summer...something about coaches and GM's talking shit when they haven't won a ring seems pathetic. Particularly Otis after all the questionable contracts and deals they've given.

While the Heat's defense was incredibly impressive their shot selection was shitty since they shot so many long jumpshots...imo thats what opposing teams want to happen rather than give 'em points in the paint.

Dwight looks better offensively but tonight showed when he focuses on that end he sacrifices way too much on the other and time will tell if he's got a respectable jumper or if that shit was basically luck. I can see why Stan Van Gundy had limited his touches in the past since they need Dwight to focus on defense and rebounding --- no one on their team comes close in those areas.

Magic need a legitimate star thats a playmaker and can create his own shot but I don't see it happening considering the Magic's assets and their history (Wince, Shard, etc). Jameer looks like a horrible fit next to Dwight and they have too many roleplayers with the same skills and none of them can really penetrate the lane or pass well. I don't think Melo or Igoudala really addresses both their passing and shot creation problems but they would be an upgrade...crazy that even with one of those players that the Magic still wouldn't have enough...a healthy CP3 and D-will seem like much better fits but good luck getting those franchises to deal 'em.
