The fire alarms went off Friday morning near the Spurs training facility, but there was no fire. It was thieves trying to make off with an ATM.
San Antonio police said thieves broke into the building next-door to the Spurs training facility after midnight. Thieves wrapped a thick metal chain around an ATM and tried to pull the machine off its base with a Jeep.
The foundation was too strong for the vehicle's axle, and the would-be robbers gave up. Police said the thieves took off but did not get too far. They ended up a few feet away on 21 Spurs Lane, where the Jeep fell apart.
The suspects bailed out on foot and left empty-handed. Police said they do not have a good description from the surveillance video because the bandits were wearing hoodies. Police are looking for four suspects.
