View Full Version : You know what you can do with your "Mourning Theorem"

This morning, some writer named Kris Rivenburgh wrote a rambling, disjointed, illogical story on why Duncan did not have what it takes to beat the Suns. He compared an injury-plagued Duncan to Alonzo Mourning when Alonzo didn't have what it took to be the cornerstone of a team.
Well, Mr. Rivenburgh, you obviously underestimated Tim Duncan. Duncan showed the heart of a champion today with an excellent game (with delicate ankles) against Phoenix. I said it this morning and I'll repeat it again. That article was horseshit.

this series is far from over
I would not count on spurs scoring 43 points in 4
or 120 in a game
duncan's ankle could go out any team

I with Ducks here. The Spurs were the more rested and more experienced team and both of those things showed today. I thought the Spurs played well and did the kinds of things they must do to win this series, but if the Spurs have proven anything in the last two playoff years, it's that they will give up games on occasion, particularly by struggling with the adjustments opponents make.

Game 1 is a great start for the Spurs and puts a lot of pressure on the Suns for Game 2, but this one is a long way from over. Lots and lots of work still left to do.

115 W
128 W
101 L
121 W

Those are the point totals the Spurs put up against the Suns this season. Including todays game.

They've struggled when they're in the slow down half court mind set.

When they're running and gunning they don't struggle to score.

And they can still D up when they're running. Liek today in the fourth.

they took the lead because they would score and then go and make a stop on the other end.

And please don't tell me Joe Johnson takes them up to another level defensively.

We scored 115, 128, and 101 (without Tim) on the Suns with Johnson playing.

Enough Ducks.

The guy may be a good guy but he also has some moronic opinions. He doesn't like Tim Duncan for some reason, to the point that it clouds everything he has to say and makes any other points he has suspect. Saying that Duncan is not a good leader is laughable. Saying that he can't physically dominate anymore is ridiculous - he's injured, duh. Saying he isn't clutch when he's taken the team on his back numerous times is ludicrous. Comparing a two time champion and two time MVP to the likes of Alonzo Mourning is - well after everything else he's had to say, what do you expect?

The Suns are a very good team. I agree whole-heartedly with that fact.
