Need Milsap and Ibaka to have good games for fantasy, that's all I care about

That is funny, the guy I am playing has those two as well. Probably something with the draft spot and where those two were available (he drafted 5th in a 12 team league).

It will be interesting to see if this is the game Big Al breaks out. He should because OKC has no one to guard him.

Of course D-Will vs Westbrook is a fun match up.

sons the Jazz are struggling badly right now because they lack any leadership. Boozer may not have been the best example of a team leader, but he had been the heart and soul of that team for years.

I expect the Thunder to easily beat them down ... OKC 114 Utah 88

If that is the case, than Deron needs to take the Jazz by the reigns...

Millsap and Al should beast Green and Kristic. OKC will have to swarm and cause TO's to have a good chance.

Jeff Green will have to score as well.

If Utah can pound it inside and space the floor a little, they should win. AK will have to do an adequate job on KD.

I expect Utah to win this. They're a good team regardless of how they've started. They're due to break through.

AK is not really that good in one-on-one defense. he just plays good help defense and reaps decent numbers of blocks and steals. playing one on one defense he never locks down anyone, never mention kevin durant.

It is amazing the difference between pre-season and regular season. Case in point: James Harden. He was spectacular in the pre-season and now he gets only 18MPG and looks just awful.

He is looking bust-ish. What I don't get is why draft him 3rd overall and over Tyreke & Curry and not play him?

Jeff Green is indeed a SF material and he's only forced to play PF a lot because of Kevin Durant. Jeff is not as good as durant for sure, but he isn't far off durant's standard either.

:lol Jeff Green isn't close to Durant in any way..he's a stretch 4 that can't shoot on a consistent basis, which severely limits his ability..

Also, Kirilenko was actually really good at defending 1 on 1 last year, opponents shot 35% against him..

Jeff Green is pretty bad, like DPG said, he's a poor man's Lamarcus Alderidge. He won't be an allstar in the future. He has the Antoine Walker mentality when it comes to 3's. He doesn't shoot as much, but he actually thinks he can make them when he's better suited shooting the 2.

Agreed. But i give them credit for looking at fit rather than just drafting talent, like the Clips usd to and the Blazers do now.

LOL at BR and the like saying Utah would get railroaded. sloan is a great coach and Dwill will not allow this team to go 0-3 without a fight. Game far from over but those burying Jazz were pre-mature.

DPG21920
10-31-2010, 07:57 PM
You should only draft for fit when the talent between two players is close. If not, you draft for talent.

If they would have had Curry and he was not a great fit, they could quite easily trade him for a player of equal talent but better fit.

10-31-2010, 08:03 PM

I agree to a point. you don't take a project like milicic over Melo because you have Prince, because Melo is the best player out of all 3. That makes no sense. But I get why the Pistons didnt take Wade with Rip and chauncey in the fold becaue who knew Wade would be THIS good and you already had 2 guards who needed the rock and you just won a title.

My point was more like how before the recent moves the Blazers had a bunch of talent that was all similar: Batum, Outlaw, rudy, Roy bayless and Webster. that made no sense. yes they had the best young talent on their bench but they needed some role guys and players that complemented each other. Yes you can trade, but you dont always have leverage. Also how can any of these guys develop without minutes? Now look at Batum, blossom look at the niche Bayless has carved in NOLA ...The game is basketball not fantasy too much talent can be detrimental ... without well defined roles.
My guess Blazers have their best year now that they let some of that redudant talent go ...

Congrats to the Jazz getting off the "snide" ...

the Mighty thunder with a big loss at home. Those ready to crown OKC 2nd best in West and durant as MVP ...not so fast my friend. i hate to admit this but Roy and paul look like stronger candidates than durant at this point but it is VERY early.

i think the team with 2nd best record in the East or West their star player will have best shot at MVP. I think howard in the East and Roy, Durant and Paul will be the contenders in the West. Unless Lebron does enogh to get it despite the superfriends at his side ...

10-31-2010, 08:42 PM
OKC's lack of an inside presence is exactly why I consider them pretenders. They're not going anywhere until they address that problem. No West teams are going anywhere until they have a frontline that can battle the likes of Gasol, Bynum and Odom. Too much size and length for those midget West teams to compete.

BRHornet45

son nope not at all. A few of them only chose Dwill simply because Paul was hurt last year, plain and simple ... Dwyane Wade received the exact same treatment whenever he got hurt. all of a sudden "experts" and front runners like yourself started forgetting about Wade and claiming guys like Joe Johnson and Brandon Roy were better lol

son I just don't understand the trendy "grassroots-like" movement for DWill ... what ever happened to the best man at his position gets the job? why do some people feel the need to hype this guy up as if he is the next coming of Magic Johnson? .... the dude is without a doubt a top 4 or 5 NBA point guard, but considering him better than guys like Chris Paul, Steve Nash, etc. is downright ridiculous. hell I would take Rondo, Rose and Parker over Williams as well ... I give Williams his props for being a damn good point guard, but there is a reason why he is always second, third, and fourth place in damn near every category. How can someone who has NEVER led the league at the point guard position in ANYTHING be considered the best? can we talk about Nash being the best? shit yea we can ... you can easily argue that, but Deron Williams? grow up

Weak ass take. Williams right now is the best PG in the league because he has no weaknesses. Dude combines a big body with quickness, can shoot 3's, drive, dish, defend, and provides leadership and poise under pressure.

Chris Paul is a little crybaby who folds quicker than a cheap imported lawnchair when pressured.

shot 29% from 3 to Durant's 28%
