View Full Version : Chris Bosh vs Lamar Odom

I know it's early but:

Odom: 16pts, 13.7trb, 3.3ast on 67% shooting

Bosh : 13pts 6.5trb(:lmao), 1.5ast on 45% shooting

Both are quite obviously roleplayers on their respective teams. Yet one comes off the bench when his starting center is playing and the other is supposed the unstoppable third option while being paid the max. :lol

Hell, Bosh actually makes more than Wade and Robin. Which is some funny ass shit.

dude had one rebound against the Nets ...... I will say he did have a smoove 18 points going 8-10 from the field. Wade and James got the majority of their point from the line. A freakin' 18-24 from the charity stripe.

LOL comparing a guy who is supremely confident in his role as sidekick, in fact, gets extremely nervous when he's called on to do anything else, and has plenty of experience with his team doing it to: a guy playing on a completely new team, trying to integrate as a legitimate 3rd and even second option, literally a few games into the season.. try failing less hard next time.

LOL stackkkkkkkkked. After Bynum takes his sweet ass time & returns im interested in what Phil is gonna do. Fiba was the best thing that has happened to LO, he looks like hes playing with no more pressure now since he has some trophies to back it up now haha.

Lamar is a legit role player. Bosh is not.

The Heat would benefit more if they treated Bosh like the #2 option even if he isn't the 2nd best player on their team.

CB4 is still the better offensive player with more moves and a better more reliable jumper. As a glue guy, rebounder and floor general Odom is hands down better. Now if you take the defensive category I also give the nod to Odom, for his rebounding and one on one defense as he can play SF's, PF's and C'.s

As the 1st option I do give the nod to Bosh though.

Let's focus on this thread for now, and how hard you've failed. I give Lamar his props, especially when it comes to rebounding.. dude is a beast on the boards. Yet that's his entire role, hitting the boards, defending, hitting the open shot if he needs to, and finishing what Kobe and Pau start.. Bosh is going to have to make his own shot plenty this season in order for the Heat to stand a chance in the half court every night, a role Lamar always shunned.

Must suck when the Lakers 6th man is a better all around basketball player than the highest paid guy on the vaunted Miami Heat dynasty.

Your failures are well documented, bro, but I ain't bringing them up, only how this thread is a failure.

Now, if you'd have been smart about it, and waited at least 25 games into the season while following this trend, you'd have no trouble calling scoreboard.. you still may be able to, though I doubt it.

What difference does that make?

Every player needs to understand their role and flourish in that role in order for their team to be successful. If Bosh cannot adapt to being a role player, which is what he's been reduced to thus far by the coach and his teammates, then he'll continue to struggle.

It's along the lines of Bruce Bowen being a better player for the Spurs over Richard Jefferson; How many Spurs fans are stupid enough to say they'd rather have RJ over a younger BB just because he can carry an offense better??

A great documented failure is the belief that the 2009-10 Spurs were contenders.

There are literally scores and scores of those threads to be found here with plenty of homeristic rah rah rahing by you.

That was a miserable failure but hey, you were just being a fan.

You don't think having to carry a load roughly twice as large as Odom's matters? Well, we can only agree to disagree. Bosh will have to score, will have to rebound, will have to defend for the Heat to have a chance. Bump this bitch in 25 games..

Odom is definitely the more talented and gifted player. He is one of the most talented/gifted players the NBA has ever seen. But he truly is a guy that does not have a leaders mentality. Great #3 option and glue guy though. One of my favorite players ever.

Not on the Heat where he is a role player. If he could fulfill a Lamar Odom like game, boarding with the best of them, aptly defend and score around 15 a game he'd be doing well for them.

Your "roughly twice the load" estimation is garbage.

There is a difference between following your team and being a delusional homer out of touch with reality.

Moreover, the op could just be rationalized as "supporting his team" and therefore all of your points rendered moot by your own line of thinking.

Odom has learned how to really be successful as a role player. Bosh has a ways to go before he's comfortable with his role. Might take some time for Bosh to learn how to excel as a third option role player.

Plus, I think it's easier for a guy like Odom to play off two great players when one of them is also a big man. Pau and to an extent Bynum draw a lot of attention by opposing frontcourts. While Wade and LeBron are great players, Bosh will still command more attention in the frontcourt because he's playing next to Joel Anthony and Udonis Haslem. Bosh will generally be defended by the better defensive big man and it's easier to double him off of either Anthony or Haslem. I think that makes a difference. Replace either Wade or LeBron with an elite big man, like Gasol or Dwight Howard, and Bosh would have a lot more room to work with in the paint area, as opposed to being an afterthought on offense and relegated to a spot-up midrange jump shooter off of Wade or LeBron drives and kickouts.

This thread is garbage, but I'd rather have Odom on my team. Not saying he's a better player, I'm just saying he's the kind of guy I want on my team. I like his style.

Odom is obviously better than Bosh in a sidekick role. Odom passes better, defends better and just does about anything better than Bosh as a sidekick.

Odom and Gasol are the only reason Kobe has a chance to win a ring without being the 2nd banana.

Yes, Odom is that good.

LO came into Lakers' training camp in great physical condition. He's started before so he is comfortable playing with our 1st unit. He knows the triangle inside and out and he is extremely versatile for someone his size.

RuPaul is overrated. He gets more FGAs and has a better jumper than LO. Other than that, LO is the better player. Here are things LO does better than RuPaul:

1. Rebounder. LO is an absolute beast on the boards.
2. Facilitator/Passer. LO is a really good passer as a 6'10" dude.
3. Defender. LO >>> RuPaul at defense.
4. Versatile. LO played both guard positions and both forward positions in the triangle.

Just wait until he brings ^these attributes to our 2nd unit. I could see him sky for a rebound, initiate a fast break, and dish to either of the Killer B's for a 3 or for a throwdown (it is going to be really scary for every team in the league when Big Drew returns). RuPaul can do none of the above sans being an opportunistic rebounder.

Remember, LO used to play for the Hype. DWhistle loves him and so does Riles. I guarantee you that if they had the chance to choose between acquiring LO or RuPaul it would NOT be an easy decision for the Hype. They might still choose RuPaul, but I wouldn't doubt that they would have rather acquire LO to put with DWhistle and LeHype - because they know he can still be effective without the ball in his hands while letting them shine. LO is very unselfish in that regard.

LO even one upped LeHype: lead his Olympic team to a gold medal without Kobe. :lol

You LOL ..but he has a point. you do realize that Lamar was the number one player coming out of HS in the nation? Lamar has amazing talents but also some huge weakness as well. he sucks at FT's never fully developed his right hand or a consistent season to season jumper. bosh has done most of that.

But what Lamar is he is a 6 ft 10 player that can pass, dribble and drive better than some guards. he can defend multiple positions. he is extremely talented, that is why it's so frustrating he has never even been an all-star. He has superstar talent but great 6th man or 3rd option production ...

I lol because he's Phillip, not to slight Odom.

Odom is the quintessential 4th option, even 3rd option because of his ball handling and passing, though I'd take Bosh over him 10/10 times at this point still. Odom is a 6th man going against opposing benches and rebounding with an incredible frontcourt. Bosh IS the Heat frontcourt, at least concerning true big men, without the option of going to the bench explored yet.

We'll see. Odom has certainly done spectacular to open this season.
