Bernard Hopkins Calls MMA a Gay Porno Movie

In a recent article by Mark Vester from BoxingScene, light heavyweight boxer Bernard Hopkins recently stated that he felt MMA is much like a gay porno and felt grown men should not be watching it. Hopkins then went on to state that he would feel "suspect" [possibly gay] if he bought a ticket to watch MMA.

Bernard makes it clear in the article that he is from the hood and that is why he cannot understand why two grown men would, in his opinion, wrestle on the ground in panties, sweating with their nuts in their face.

Hopkins stated, "I'm not wrestling a guy with panties on and his nuts in my face, and they call that a sport."

Bernard then explains his logic to BoxingScene by saying he would understand it if 90 percent of MMA fight audience were women and it bothers him that groups of men would get together to watch MMA fights.

He then goes on to say he feels MMA fans have chains and masks in their closets. This is ironic for Hopkins himself is known for wearing chains and masks as part of his costume, dressing like a S&M executioner as he enters into the boxing ring.

Personally, I feel Hopkins should watch out what he says about MMA and his homosexual remarks for several reasons. First off all, the homosexual hate talk needs to stop—we all are sick of it, period. Second of all, it is well known that Hopkins is an ex-convict who, in his own biography, has admitted to "witnessing rapes".

Now I dont know about you, but if I happened to be at the strip club and there are lap dances going on then you better believe I am "witnessing lap dances". Yeah just "witnessing" sure wink wink. Thirdly, Hopkins is now a co-partner in one of the biggest boxing business companies on the planet, he cannot keep on saying things that will hurt the image and reputation of the company that he now co-owns.

Yes, Bernard must learn that by throwing down a Puerto Rican flag, saying, "I will never lose to a white boy!"

And yes, making hateful/hypocritical comments against homosexuals and losing any MMA fan who would also consider themself to be a boxing fan as well are all not good business practices and again they hurt the image and reputation of the company that he co-owns.

Plus of course it is just plain ignorant.

Further more, if you ask any MMA fan who jumped the boxing ship to MMA a few years back why they jumped ship, I can almost guarantee you it was because they found boxing to be more and more boring.

But ask yourself, which fighters are they referring to when they say boxing is so boring that they left the boxing world to the MMA world? I will tell you who they are referring: It is none other than fighters like Bernard Hopkins.

When fight fans see a boxer like Hopkins fight in such a god awful boring manner where he illegally: holds, clinches, headbutts, turns his backs to his opponents, hits the testicles, and plain does not do much for the first half of his fights, they say enough is enough.

Especially when a 40-something-year old is still winning in this horribly boring manner, it sends the wrong message that boxing is lacking exciting talented fighters.

Look, I am a true fight fan. I love all fights whether they are boxing or MMA. But I like most fight fans want to see—an exciting fight period.

We want to see action, thrill, speed, power, ring generalship, technical skills, and yes, knock outs.

Submissions are good too, but come on!

We all can agree that it's all about the mighty KO. However, Hopkins is not known for having heavy hands or for stopping his opponents and this is one of the main reasons why he has never really won over the masses.

So what would Hopkins do in a real street fight when the fight inevitably ends up on the ground? Will he wish he paid more attention to those "gay porno movies" then?

Let's put Hopkins in the ring or octagon with an equal size MMA fighter and see what happens. There might be a chance that he makes the MMA fighter submit due to utter god awful boredom.

But this will be one "gay porno" that I will be at, for 90 percent of the audience will be female, remember!

A washed up boxer says he doesn't like MMA, how is that fascinating. I have to tell you, that part of what fuels boxers pissing on MMA is jealousy over it's success. MMA has completely replaced boxing on the PPV scale. Boxing only rakes it in these days on PPV when Manny or Floyd fights.. I know all about B-Hop. He's an ex con turned boxing legend with a massive ego and a big mouth.. He's done great things but he often jams his foot into his mouth.. He's never competed in MMA so he has NO place to bash it. In fact when he apeared on ESPN to debate the sport on First Take a few weeks ago he was way more politically correct about the difficulty of the sport and its competitors. Yes and No. Boxing still has the biggest PPV gate ever in the Oscar/Floyd fight but the big PPV gates are coming less and less.. This is a dying sport in the US. The UFC did over 1 mil buys at UFC 114, 116 and 121. On a consistant basis in the PPV model year to year they are crushing boxing.. Manny and Floyd both sell huge PPVS but there are 2 problems there. 1 Floyd rarely fights and lately ducks more opponents than anything else.. 2 Manny seems to be forming a 2nd career in congress and his fighting days may be winding down. Who's taking his place as a PPV king?

Because it is about skill. JJ and submissions is about technique and skill. What is so skillfull about beating someone over the head with a boot or choking them out with a T-Shirt?

in a Kimura but as Hughes tries to bridge out of it, he imediately transitions it into an arm-bar and Hughes is forced to verbally tap out. Sons MMA is just a "white boy sport" just like hockey and NASCAR. I'm willing to bet that at least 85-90% of MMA fans are white and then at least 90% of that percentage are males. Most girls only watch it because their boyfriends are into it or they want to fuck a fighter. White guys love MMA because it is a much easier route than boxing where blacks and latinos dominate. To be honest, wrestling was gay in HS. The only guys that took it up were guys that were pussies most of their lives. MMA has staked it's claim and there's no sense in comparing the two sports because they are completely different. The best boxers in the world have a punchers chance in MMA. The best MMA fighters in the world have no chance in boxing. I don't see any MMA fighters putting their reputation on the line to prove they can slug with boxers, yet you see plenty of washed up boxers jumping into MMA willing to slug it out. The first thing the MMA fighter does is take them down, wrestle and put their sweaty nuts in the boxers face... just like Hopkins said.

I see exactly why an MMA fighter wouldnt step into a boxing ring with a boxer. They'd get torqued by a boxer, the hand speed and precision...even the MMA guy with the best boxing background doesnt stand a chance against a pro boxer.

...and really, MMA owes its (modern) existence to boxing. From the fundamentals of the fight itself (standing hand strikes), to the round lengths, all the way to the promotional aspect of the "Big Fight".

But I like MMA better because its a simple question, "Who can kick whose ass?" When compared to the sport of boxing, MMA has no rules (relatively). On the street, if youre a trained MMA fighter, there is no one in the room who can beat you. No lucky punch, no size advantage, anything short of a weaponized opponent, theyre as good as unconscious.

I think a lot of boxers are hoping MMA is gonna just go away.. It's not happening. Boxing will always have a place in the world but in the US MMA has replaced it as the number 1 combat sport.. That gap is only gonna get wider.. And with the UFC expanding into new countries all the time, they will catch up to boxing there also..

Most boxing fans are estatic that the UFC is putting on great shows. Otherwise, there would be almost no fights to watch.

Bernard is just talking trash. He knows most MMA nuts are super sensitive and it's fun to get under their skin.

The UFC reigns supreme now and into the forseeable future.

I like boxing and MMA. I like MMA a little better though. MMA isn't gay. Neither is wrestling. You might not like it, but it isn't gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I still go back to the funny aspect of those that feel it is gay to do something other than standing and striking. So they can't deal with people who are well rounded fighters and that makes it okay because they say it is gay.. :lol

Sons MMA is just a "white boy sport" just like hockey and NASCAR. I'm willing to bet that at least 85-90% of MMA fans are white and then at least 90% of that percentage are males. Most girls only watch it because their boyfriends are into it or they want to fuck a fighter. White guys love MMA because it is a much easier route than boxing where blacks and latinos dominate. MMA fighters are vast majority white because black and latinos just aren't into it, therefor the competition is much easier since 9 times out of 10 the fights are white boy vs white boy. Hell not even asians are that into MMA. Sorry but that's just how it is.
