Rookie Ladder (http://www.nba.com/rookieladder/?ls=iref:nbahpt1)

9 James Anderson : San Antonio Spurs
Surprisingly, the Spurs have three rookies seeing minutes, but it's Anderson who gets the early bump, thanks to a 10-point debut and by going 5-for-10 on 3-pointers through three games. Even better, Anderson helped lock down Pacers All-Star Danny Granger. "It did a lot for my confidence," Anderson said, "not only being in double figures, but just to get my feet wet and defending a guy like Granger and being able to defend him."

1 John Wall : Washington Wizards
2 Blake Griffin : Los Angeles Clippers
3 Derrick Favors : New Jersey Nets
4 Landry Fields : New York Knicks
5 DeMarcus Cousins : Sacramento Kings
6 Evan Turner : Philadelphia 76ers
7 Wes Johnson : Minnesota Timberwolves

Blair was easily a top 10 rookie last year. If Anderson can hold his spot that would be two straight years that the Spurs have landed lottery pick talent with later picks. :tu

On a side note, Favors with the Nets looks like the real deal. May shape up to be an impressive rookie class.

if ja keeps this up, he could make the 9-man all-star rookie team; would that be the only time in spurs history when their draft picks make consecutive appearances?

Junction James, only now rounding into form.

Stephen Jackson or Courtney Lee?

Just may be; I'm certainly hoping so.

Why the hell isn't Gary Neal on that list?? :rolleyes

Except they didn't lock down Granger. He actually played poor defense. Granted he was a rookie going against an all star scorer.

:lol I was just about to comment on that. I said to myself, "lock down defence, what game was I watching?!"

Hyperbole. He was decent though and he will get better.

Big Game James! Earn it, son!

Look at Granger's first half numbers compared to his second half numbers. Someone locked him down.

He did OK in the 2nd half. Still far from "lock down" defense, though.

This kid has some upside and we were probably lucky to get him in the draft.

Gems like James Anderson can still be found. Look at the drafts from the past few years, there's names you hardly hear in the first round and there's names that are making a statement around the league all over the draft, 1st and 2nd rounds. Rajon Rondo was drafted one pick lower than James Anderson in his draft. What made teams want to select Quincy Douby over Rondo? Hell, what made teams want to select Adam Morrison over Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay in that draft?

Looking at the players and the crapy teams they are playing for you know they are getting alot more minutes then Anderson. If he was playing and getting their kinda minutes I could see him being in the top four easily.

Anderson earned his spot on the list...This years rookie team is insanely talented with Griffen, Wall, Favors, Neal, Anderson, and Tiago all showing up for the season. The spurs are awesome to have found three players who could all earn a shot at the rookie team.

why do they label Griffin as a rookie?

why do they label Griffin as a rookie?

Because he didn't play any games last year he's still considered a rookie.

why do they label Griffin as a rookie?

he missed last year entirely...this is his rookie year in terms of the NBA and he qualifies for the ROY.

In a couple of years when the big 3 will be down James will be the go to guy ...he is still a good rookie on a very good team where he gets limited minutes.....it looks like he has the tools to be an all star eventually ....good basketball intelligence , good stroke, good athlete...only time will tell

And what about Oden?

Both Anderson and Splitter will be showing up in this list in the future. Hell, even Neal will show up if he keeps playing well off the bench.

Never said he wasnt, picture him as a starter right now what would he avg in 35mpg? 14-16ppg......He is an afterthought and in limited touches he has proven he can score.

If the guy played for a bad team, he would be in ROY running.

I don't agree, but I sure hope you're right. Kid's been impressive so far. The only real concern about his game was his defense, and he's a far better defender than Finley, Bogans, Mason, or Barry already.
