I was watching Rose, Wall, Westbrook last week and I heard announcers for each team say that one of them is the fastest player in the league. Who do you think is the fastest and make your case why. Here is my list in no partcular order:
1. John Wall - fast and very quick. I think he MAY already be the fastest but too early to tell.
2. Russ Westbrook - Very fast in open though I dont think he gets to stop speed as fast as others.
3. Monta Ellis - Super quick. Not sure i would take him in a footrace but side to side I think he great quick twitch fibers. I bet his "start" in race would be sick.
4. Derek rose - A great coombination of quicks, speed and explosiveness. he may not be the fastest but he looks it.
5. Tony Parker - Obviously he has lost a step but he is fast still
6. Leandro Barbosa - See above. Though i think his speed suffers from being one of the poorer ball handlers on this list.
7. Lebron - hear me out. Yes he is probably not as quick or as fast as these guys in a 40 yard dash. But on a court, with his long strides and explosiveness i think he deserves some consideration. And in a 200 and especially a 400 yard race I go all in on Lebron.
8. Rondo - Fast. Seems to have a second gear.
9. Ty Lawson - Another speed demon. Short though. Would take him in a "60" or shorter dont think he would be as effective in anything over 60.
10. Aaron Brooks - See above.
11. Collison - Forgot about him great track bloodlines very fast.
Your thoughts? I was arguing with some buddies about this and obviously Wall looks like he is running on NOS ...but i think too early to tell yet. We were all former track athletes so we could not agree if we were talking only with the ball or without or even only on a court or if we put them on a track. I think that distinction has a huge effect. Without the ball, I think Lebron moves up to the middle of the pack ...and obviously if on a track at a longer distance Lebron has a better chance to compete a 200 with these guys would be interesting ...
