View Full Version : Remember when the Lakers coasted their way to 65 wins?

Started the season 7-0. Shit on an uppity 27-2 Celtic team for Christmas. Consistently dominated the NBA elite while cruising their way to a 65 win season -- only 65 mainly because they never actually took the lottery fodder seriously.

The 2010/11 Lakers will be 6-0 after tonight. And this team is way more vetted than that 2008-2009 squad on just about every level. Deepest Laker bench since I can remember. Leading the league in rebounds AND scoring despite crushing the living shit out of the NBA playoffs with their defense en route to a :lobt: :lobt: a few months back.

I'm not predicting that the Lakers might win 70+ games and go down as one of the most dominating basketballs teams of all time or anything. Just sayin'.

Here's to fruition :toast

I haven't been this excited over a Laker lineup since our 2002 line up.

Also keep in mind that is most likely Phil Jackson's last season. And I don't have to mention the Lakers are still without their starting center..

Hypothetically speaking though. Were the Bulls' win record to be challenged it would happen this year before the CBA arbitration blows up. With how underwhelming Miami has looked the Lakers are really the only team since the early Bling Bling dynasty that has been constructed with that kind of maximum potential.

Why would the Lakers fuck with this starting lineup? Tbh it's better than with Bynum.

Because that was the deal to start with. Bynum was starting when he put Perkins in the hospital. The only thing that's changed since then is that L.A. jeweler carvin' up the leather game ball to make the rings.

Every year, it is the same shit. Lakers start off at home and have a cakewalk schedule for a few weeks to pump up their record against sub .500 teams and have ample time to prepare for decent competition. By that time, they already have a distinct advantage in their record and have momentum going to the middle of the season. They also play 43 home games, fuck them.

I remember that season. The Lakers never strung 10 straight wins (longest W streak was 8) but somehow they won 65.

39 home, 39 away, 4 neutral

:cry:cry:cry it's not fair, Lakers don't get as many home games as 28 other teams :cry:cry:cry

Cept Buss, makes the cash flow a little heavier I imagine.

I also harken back to Smush gettin' run outta Florida and ending up back at Staples. Can ya imagine Kobe walkin' out into the hallways twixt the locker-rooms and findin' that bastard standin' there skinnin' & grinnin'?

:lmao

When the Lakers play @ Clippers,

do the Lakers have to go to the visitors locker room?

Giuseppe
11-05-2010, 12:50 PM
No. They stay in their own.

MiamiHeat

No. They stay in their own.

so the clippers have to go to the visitor locker room for "home game" vs lakers

lmao.

why are the clippers still in the league...or better yet, why are they still in LA..... Las vegas wants a team....seattle would like a team again...

just change your name and start fresh. erase the clippers from memory.

Giuseppe

Are there three locker rooms in Staples? Ashy would know.

Clippers have their own. Lakers have their own. I can't imagine the visitors to the Clippers using the Lakers.
