I think that the realization that after the Duncan area, the Spurs will no longer be a factor--a la Bulls post-Jordan is slowly seeping in. You see, they had a nice little run and unfortunately, there are only a few Duncans to come around. It was, after all, a perfect storm for them to get the 4 rings. The Lakers? Why, they're always a player away from contending. You could call them the Yanks of the NBA, but that's not giving credit to where it's due--the Lakers do this with a cap...Life is good when you're a Laker fan ;).

Exactly. Pippen was the second most important player of the late 80s and 90s. He was one heck of a player and Jordan was the only one who's better than him. Without Pippen, Jordan wouldn't have been able to win all those rings.

Funny that you mention that, given that our bench filled with youth, has been contributing real big. Neal is that dead eye 3 point shooter we've been needing since Bowen, Anderson plays real good D and shows promise with his shooting abilities, Splitter shows the same fundamental posture, and patience that Timmy had, and Robinson before him, and is only getting better and better.
One more thing! You can't argue that Derek Fisher is done, right?
