Wow. I guess he's never going to be able recover fully and stay healthy. Too bad.

If he were to retire now, does he still count against the cap?

I think for a year or two. The NBA changed the rule after the Spurs used a retirement exception for Sean Elliott to sign Samaki Walker in 1999-2000, and then brought Elliott back later in the season after his kidney transplant.

Strained tendon in foot

Damn...just when they were talking about amping up his playing time...all jokes aside, Yao doesn't deserve this string of bad luck he's had...hope it's minor

what is this? Does stern want a future in china? Rockets demands instant cap relief

Yao DOES NOT leave game with foot injury. Nothing is wrong with either foot for Yao. It's a strained tendon in his leg and he can return for the game (but probably won't).

And here is the vid of Yao going down. Dammit, why do these International Big men feel like they have to take charges?

In the case of Yao, it might be safer than having him jump. Glad to hear the news that it's not his foot, though I haven't seen a confirmation yet.

Confirmed. I'm glad too, hope he gets, and stays, healthy.

Rockets’ Yao leaves game with left leg injury (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-rockets-yaoinjury)

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming left Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards with a strained tendon in his left leg. The team said his return is questionable.

Yao played the opening 6:14 of the game and did not return for the remainder of the first half. He did not score and grabbed one rebound. The injury-prone Yao sat out the entire 2009-10 season after undergoing surgery to repair his broken left foot.

The Rockets have been limiting Yao’s minutes early in the season and before the game coach Rick Adelman said no decision has been made on increasing his playing time. “He is coming off a 15, 16 month layoff. He’s not the Yao from two years ago,” Adelman said.

T-Mac took a lot of undeserved criticism.

How can he win anything when his overpaid "sidekick" superstar Center is never healthy ?

Yeah I blame Yao for the seven years that McGrady failed before he came to Houston, too. :rolleyes
