The guy has quietly become one of the more consistent Spurs out there.
IMO, he has been playing terrific defense, with good rotations, timely blocks, and key rebounding.
On offense he sets good screens, he doesn't try to do too much, and I always feel good when he takes his jumper, since he's been knocking it down at a respectable rate. As a bonus, he's been a good free throw shooter and still seems to have enough hops for a put back dunk here and there.

Here's to you, Mr Dice :toast

Somebody made a thread comparing the '03 Spurs to this year's team . . . and said Duncan was the old vet like Robinson. So far, McDyess is filling the role of Robinson in his last two years. If only we could turn back the dial on Duncan . . .

I'll join. He's been consistently good about every game so far... kind of surprised me that he's not taking it easy here at the beginning. Last night he was really aggressively going after rebounds, at least the parts that I saw - only watched the first half.

He has played solid basketball so far in the season.

I want to take a few more jumpers off the elbows. Teams have been giving him that shot so far in the first few games.

He can make that shot consistently!

He's been solid. I hope he stays healthy all season and into the playoffs. Dude is off the charts when it comes to being dependable

He's got the best mid-range jumper in the league, IMO. Great rebounder & defender, & still has some mobility left. Turnovers way down since last year, looks 100% more comfortable on the court.

Great addition, and thankfully Rasheed chose Boston.

This could be his last season. He seemed to have prepared himself well during the offseason.

Winning a ring for him would be nice (similar to 03 Robinson.)

He's got such a sweet shot and is a perfect Spur. On the personal side, he's got a smile that lights up the world and is just an ole country boy.

Dice found the fountain of youth in the summer? he's playing great BB

McDyess is vastly improved in his second season. While everyone was focusing on Jefferson's decline and revival, not much was made of the fact that Dice didn't exactly shine last season either. He wasn't as lost as RJ, but I think most people wrote off his troubles to old age.

Dino Dice is out there showing that maybe that wasn't the case. I think he's already just about matched his dunk total from last season. :lol

does Dice have a ring yet, from any team he's been on?

Nope, no rings.

Negative. He joined Detroit in 2004-2005 and we all know how that story ended. :lobt2:

One of my all-time favorites. He sneaks up on you and suddenly he's just been the most consistent guy on the court, doing it all along. Steady, Like a Rock. And when the pass goes into the corner, you'll just assume it's going in, not really cheering for him, kind of taking it for granted. And then you realize you shouldn't that that guy shows up every day. He won't make you jump out of your chair anymore. He'll just be old reliable--scoring when it's important, constantly bothering the opposing big men, and just being the quiet one.

:tu Mcdyess. It's not just RJ who looks more comfortable out there this season.

My all-time favorite player. I still jump up on every made jumper and I'm yellin at the T.V. every time he dunks or gets a block. When he retires, my interest in the NBA is going to sharply decline.

I honestly expected more of this last season and was dissapointed until playoff time. He'd just had a great year with the Pistons so I was surprised to see him do so poorly. Had to listen to all the negativity but at the saem time couldn't agrue with anyone about it.

I hope they go deep in the playoffs. I could see him coming back for one more if they win it all.

And rmt is exactly right; Dice is just a good ole country boy that loves his family. Pretty refreshing in a league with so many thugs in it.

Ever since I've been aware of McDyess I've been a fan.

Solid player, plays every night, knows his role, never starts any drama, good guy.

He's a true professional.

'Dyess has been ballin,' straight up.

It's amazing how well he's been moving, getting off the feet and even putting out the effort at this point -- we're all aware of how the Tide rolls.

'Dyess is the epitome of "class" and "professional." Great guy and he's playing some really great, great basketball for a big his age. :tu

He's got the 5th best Efficiency Rating (+12.14) on the Spurs, after Timmy, Manu, TP, and RJ.

I was actually thinking that McDyess was going to be having an off year simply because Pop was gonna save him for the playoffs.

Props to him! But hopefully he doesn't get gassed.

He knows this is it for him this year, hes gonna go all out. Splitter and Blair will allow him to stay fresh. Still like us to add a big like Damp and move Bonner to SF.

I don't see how Bonner would ever be able to be a SF. He's too slow and stiff sometimes to even play PF or C. No way that would happen.

Props to McDyess- a solid contributor this year. Looks so comfortable out there. I'm really impressed with the shape he is in. He definitely took care of himself this summer. Keep it up Dice:tu

I've always liked Antonio McDyess. Early on I thought he might be one of the greats.

Hell, his skill and professionalism impress me 15 years later. Dice's off to a great start.

The thing you have to remember about McDyess is that he started out as probably THE single most athletic forward in the league, the Amar'e Stoudemire of his time.

Somehow I can't picture Amar'e morphing into an elder-statesman defensive rock type.
