Home-state Crowd Walks Out on Edwards (http://www.newsmax.com/scripts/printer_friendly.pl?page=http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/9/27/223423.shtml)

"Half the audience who showed up last week to see John Edwards' first South Carolina appearance since he won his home state's primary in February walked out before he arrived – two hours late."
Oh, and what about those coattails?

"And in another sign of trouble in paradise, the state's Democratic Senate candidate – whose campaign the Edwards visit was supposed to boost – declined to be seen on the same stage with Edwards."

What? A reliable source like Newsmax giving only half the story?

State Education Superintendent Tenenbaum's spokeswoman said her candidate has a scheduling problem and may not be available to attend the Edwards event when he arrives Wednesday.

"We have a conflict. I don't know whether it can be resolved," said spokeswoman Kay Packett. Tenenbaum is scheduled to be in Washington for a fundraiser with U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C.

Yeah, your party's Vice Presidential candidate comes to town and you have a scheduling conflict.

What about the two hours late and half the crowd leaving? Did that not happen either?

I believe hearing that much of the crowd thought that Edwards had to cancel the appearance, so they left. Only to find out later that Edwards did show after all.

She's a Democrat running well in Republican majority territory. I think the Demo's will cut her some slack.

It's not her you need to worry about. Kerry/Edwards are doing poorly in Edward's home state. I think it was them that needed the support of a Demoncrat doing well in the State and she basically told them, I'm not interested in getting any of whatever it is you've got rubbed off on me.

Face it. You've got the Senate Minority Leader, Tom "Puff" Daschle hugging Bush to get re-elected in his home state. And, you've got the Senate Candidate hiding from Kerry/Edwards in Edward's home state.

It's as if they have the plague or something.
