I wouldn't. Definately not both anyway.. You would obviously trade him for Blair straight up if your trying to win now and maybe even Splitter but I think it depends on the makeup of your team... The current Spurs team is one ofthe best offensive teams in the league ... The team doesn't need anymore guys that need the ball in their hands to be effective.. Obviously Scola can be effective off the ball because he is a quality player in almost all areas of basketball ...but having a guy like Splitter who can defend the rim and has the quickness and size to defend 4s and 5s is alot more important to the Spurs because they are pretty pathetic defensively right now.. Giving up points in the paint and on the perimeter .. Splitter looks like he will really be able to help with defending the rim and the pick and roll - better than Scola anyway.

If your a team like the Rockets lacking star power and a true go to guy with Yao out .. Then you would prefer Scola over both Splitter and Blair obviously.

Obviously Scola is the better individual player than Splitter .. But you cant just pile on talent an expect the team will automatically be better.

Editting because it's hard to proof read on a shitty iPhone..

would you trade Shaq for Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and a future first-round draft choice?

splitter at 25 just entering his prime and will get better, while scola 30 got a couple of years left at a high level and hes not as good defensivelly

yeah i wouldnt even trade splitter for scola (scolas a defensive liability in his 30's ) even when scola scores a whole bunch it doesnt help the team win in some weird way. probably because he lets alot of ppl score on him while hes out there unless yao is out there to help defend.

bonner for scola and a first round pick and we got a deal

30 year old scola, who will be 31 in a few months......for a young, low cost player with alot of upside, along w/ a 25 year old 7 footer who has alot of basketball experience? NO.

yes, our chances of winning another ring with our core would rise a great amount.

Nope and I wouldn't trade Splitter for Scola straight up either.

How exactly? We already can score plenty. We need to take a leap towards being a better defensive team. Scola wouldnt exactly help accomplish that, since he isnt a great wing defender or an intimidating interior force. Although, that Reb. Avg. is quite nice.

In a heartbeat, Blair sucks this year and will not do shit vs. the Lakers. I would make the trade and then bring Dampier in.

Only if the Rockets would let us give them Manu and a first round draft pick too.

This will be great deal for us if that happens. The only chance of that is if Houston goes on rebuilding mode and want to rid themselves of all the oldies and stockpile on draft picks. More realistically, they will ask for blair too.

trade now? hell no.
trade 5 years ago? hell yes.

or if we can make the trade now, then trade back once scola starts a major decline (i.e. in 3-4 years) :)

Trade ? nope, but i will like to see Manu, Tiago and Luifa playing on the same team.

No way, Scola and Battier I might consider.

I think it's funny how 7 games into the season people are giving up on Dejuan. Start Mcdyess and Blair goes back to the bench where he is more comfortable.

That trade is retarded. No fucking way I do it.

No...and neither would you or anyone else...because you are about 3.5 million dollars away from a trade that could actually happen in real life.

Last time Scola and Splitter played each other,
in-or-out game in the World Cup

Scola was:
39 points
9 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals
14-20 FG
8-9 FT

Splitter was:
10 points
5 rebounds
2 assists
1 block
2-5 FG
6-8 FT

Scola is a proven NBA starter and a potential All Star.
He has missed 0 (ZERO) games, so far in his NBA career.
Currently averaging 22.7 and 11.4 in 35 mpg.

Blair has no ACLs; after a promising rookie season, he is playing poorly.
Splitter is promising, but has already missed the entire training camp with an injury (stuff already seen in Spain) and the first 2 games.

It's certainty now vs potential future. Barring injuries.

I thought the majority of Spurs fans wanted to see a fifth title before the Duncan era is definitely gone.

Splitter is younger, fresher and longer. You don't trade a mobile 7 footer if you wanna compete with the lakers.

Blair + Bonner I would do.

I'll trade Bonner for a ban on idiots who can't let the Scola thing go already.

Could someone give me some insight as to why we are still talking about this? We might as well be talking about trading RJ for LeBron.

Why would we trade 6-1 for 1-7

Again, this thread is a great example of people thinking that if you just assemble a bunch of guys with awesome stats, you have an awesome team.

You need pieces that actually compliment each other skills-wise. I hate that we traded Scola. He'd be awesome on this team right now, and if you're a team starting from scratch, he's a much better choice than Splitter or Blair. He's a legit first option in the post on about half the teams in this league. That's how good he is on offense.

But, as many have pointed out, Splitter probably compliments are current pieces better than Scola would. We have scorers. Tim, Tony Manu. RJ, Neal, hell, even Dice and Bonner are, at this point, better as offensive weapons than they are on defense.

We need someone who is the opposite, and who impacts the game without the ball in his hands. That's why Bowen was so valuable for so long. Was Vince Carter or Rashard Lewis or even a guy like Michael Redd (before he got all jacked) a better player than Bruce? Definitely. But I don't know if we win our titles with one of those guys instead of Bowen on our team. It's about complimentary players, and I while I think Scola is straight up awesome overall, I'd rather have a mobile, long defender like Splitter on THIS team.

I'm not saying I would do it or not, but I think people are seriously underestimating how good a Duncan-Scola Frontcourt would be. Especially if we still have Dice coming off the Bench.
