Manny's speed should be way too much here as long as he is properly trained. All that congress stuff on 24/7 was concerning.. Antonio is gonna keep coming and make a fight of it but he is likely just gonna get hit way too much. Even when he beat Cotto, he got hit over and over and over coming in. He just eventually wore Cotto out with pressure and body shots when on the ropes.. If Manny doesn't get tired or sits in the corner eating too much body damage, he should have this fight easy..

Controversy brewing. Freddie Roach has accused Margarito of taking Ephedra and has demanded a drug test.

ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
HBO apparently has footage of Margarito pouring something into a cup. Texas commission has denied Roach's request for test.

ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
In the ultimate irony, Margarito's camp is complaining about Pacquiao's hand wrap. This could get interesting.

ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
The likelihood of hell breaking loose is high because this is Texas, home of the simpleton commission that licensed Margarito in first place

Margarito is a fantastic fighter who has a great record. He is much bigger and stronger than Manny, and has a huge reach advantage. If you can't acknowledge that it was an incredibly difficult fight and an incredible show of dominance from Manny, then I don't know what to tell you. Manny didn't just dart around and win on punches. He physically dominated Margarito in every sense of the word. Antonio didn't lose to an out of prime Mosley he was beaten as bad or worse than he was last night and KO'd.. Antonio Margarito to have surgery

Antonio Margarito, the Mexican super welterweight beaten badly by Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night, suffered a fractured orbital bone and was to have surgery Tuesday in Texas, Top Rank promotor Bob Arum told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Margarito, who lost in a lopsided, 12-round decision, was taken directly to the hospital via ambulance after the fight to have cuts to his face examined.

That is when the injury to his eye socket was discovered, and he remained in the hospital Sunday, Arum said.

Margarito had skipped the postfight news conference at the request of the fight doctor and people in his camp, an unusual move for such a big fight.

Legendary Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach was critical of the late-round decision-making of Margarito's corner, saying they should have forced a stoppage.

"There was no way I was going to quit. I'm a Mexican, we fight until the end," Margarito said.

Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs), giving away both pounds and inches, won the 150-pound, WBC super welterweight belt to extend his record with a title in an eighth weight class -- two more than Oscar De La Hoya.

"He's a very tough guy," Roach said of Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs). "I was surprised how tough he was. He has the worst corner. They probably ruined his career by not stopping the fight."

Pacquiao turned Margarito into a bloody and nearly blind fighter with a dizzying array of punches, dominating from the opening rounds on at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The beating was so thorough that the congressman from the Philippines turned to referee Laurence Cole several times in the 11th round, imploring him to stop the fight.

"I told the referee, 'Look at his eyes, look at his cuts,'" Pacquiao said. "I did not want to damage him permanently. That's not what boxing is about."

It went on, though, even though Margarito had no chance to win.

"I can't believe that I beat someone this big and this strong," Pacquiao said. "It's hard. I really do my best to win the fight."

Pacquiao moved up in weight yet again to take on Margarito, a natural welterweight with a reputation for ruggedness in the ring.

And rugged he was, though he took a beating all night long at the hands of a faster and seemingly more powerful opponent.

Pacquiao won every round on one scorecard, 120-108, and was ahead 119-109 and 118-110 on the other two. The Associated Press had it a 120-108 shutout.

I still like Floyd and the way he fights but the only fight for him is the Manny fight. If he wants to fight a few more times and keep making excuses as to why he won't fight Manny well his pay-days are gonna get smaller and smaller. Manny has basically beaten every top contender he can that' in his weight range, unless he wants to go all the way up to middleweight which is around 160 pds.. I wouldn't think so he's only 5'6 for god's sake.. At a certain point Manny will lose some of that great speed edge if he goes up too much.. Floyd needs to take this fight or retire..

you know after watching this fight, Floyd is probably even more scared to face Paquiao. Before he was scared pacman could ruin his legacy, now he is probably scared pacman will also ruin his face.

I see chance of Floyd vs. Pacman happening at -5%

Pacman is not only the champion, he is also the fighter noone wants to face. I remember 2 recent guys had those qualities: Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson prime.

IMO Pacman is reaching #1 fighter ever status. If he wins a couple more fights(Cotto, Mayweather, other) he should retire as #1 boxer ever.

you know after watching this fight, Floyd is probably even more scared to face Paquiao.

Knock knock.

you can't really compare what happened more than 50 years ago to today. I was talking about modern boxing (less 50 years ago)

yeah the legend of Robinson is amazing, if true he was probably a God in a human's body. Let's talk about mortals.

Seems like the window for this thing was as open as ever 6 months ago and now it''s just dead.. It's so rare that a fight of this magnitude where so much money is to be made just doesn't happen..

Floyds legacy would be better going 41-1 with pac in his resume then 41-0 without it.

By being dragged kicking and screaming into the fight and then getting beaten on top of that? Sorry, I think the only thing that saves Floyd's legacy is if he goes in and decisively beats Manny; no split decision. If he loses to Pacquiao all anyone will remember is how scared he was and how that fear ended up being justified.

I agree the only thing holding Mayweather back from being the best is stepping into the ring with Pacman, but he is too worried about tarnishing that undefeated record I don't believe it will ever happen...He is content where is at and Pacman is just the better fighter. If Pacquiao left boxing right now he would still have a more memorable legacy than Mayweather.

i agree....i guess mayweather fans will always have "undefeated" as thier arguement. But i can simply respond with "Resume". :p:

What about Muhammed Ali? Roy Jones Jr.? Tyson? Joe Lewis? Sugar Ray Leonard? Foreman? Holyfield? Would you be so quick to put Manny above all of them?

Those are all great fighters, but seeing Pac move up and fighting the best in every division is impressing.

You could also say that boxing talent/exposure is far worse than it has been in the past few decades, thus making it easier for Manny to dominate.

that would be nit picking and unfortunate to the boxers who are truly great in this era.

Omg! Margarito is a f-ng giant compared to manny, and manny takes all the punishment and delivers more in comparison. Pretty boy Floyd would get dead if he fights manny

The only fighters I can see beating Pac or at least giving him a competitive fight would be Mayweather, Sergio Martinez, and P-Will. P-Will's defense is shit but he could stay on the outside and keep Pacquiao away from him, Martinez is the best fighter at 154 he's just an overall great fighter, and Mayweather of course is just an overall beast.

uhm..
