Sure son. These would be my first high tier headphones, so it might sound eargasmic t me, no matter what. I plan on getting these for now and buying myself some 325i's for myself some time next year.

Why Grados? Have you looked at other headphones in the price range?

I checked out some Audio Technica, as well as Senn's(specifically the 555's.) and it seems Grado;s are the best for a price range between 100 to about 175'ish. Plus, I checked out some authorized Grado sellers, so I wont have to order off internet

Sons, I hate myself. I can't decide between the 125's or 225's. I know once I settle on the 225's, I figure I should just wait for the 325's. Classic IronMexican move. So indecisive.

Just save up and get the 325s man, your ears will thank you and you will love the cans.

I hate you. Yeah, I'm jealous. If I ever won the lottery, my first move would be to buy some from the tier above the prestige set.

I also hope you have a great amplifier to go along with that.

I have nice equiptment. I have been in the process of building a small home studio the last 2 years. You don't need to win the lottery, just go to school and get a decent job! :toast

I hear all Grado's have ridiculous noise spill, so not going with those. I'm gonna go between the Beyerdynamic 770's, or AKG 701's.

All the cans have their own nuances. I own the AKG 701's which are a great deal for the $. I also have a pair of Senn HD650 and Grado gs1000i. The Senn's are more nuetral while most of the Grado's have a crispiness to them. The AKG's fall in the middle.

I prefer the Senn's when mixing because they color the actual source sound the least. The Grado's all definely have that "Grado" coloring that so many like. The clarity and soundstage of the gs1000i's is truly amazing.

As with all high quality cans, the music source and delivery equipment make all the difference in the world. If you're playing MP3's etc on your ipod.... then don't waste your money.

As with any speakers or headphones, it's all a matter of taste and what sounds good to you. Don't go by the reviews or reputations although they can narrow your search. Go to a store and actually try them all and bring an assortment of listening materials. Also, don't forget that many high end cans have a break in period before they hit their sweet spot.

I cannot imagine you would be dissapointed in any of the cans you have mentioned. I have not personally heard the Beyerdynamic's.

If by noise spill you mean that they are not an enclosed noise canceling headphone then you are correct. Sounds from the outside can be heard and the people around you can hear what is being played since they are an open back headphone.

Happy hunting!
