View Full Version : Suns announcer sounds like a 50s merchant

Whenever I hear him say "Suns ball" and "Shawn Marion" or whatever, he sounds like a merchant from the 1950s that sells tonic.

I dont think he is the PA Announcer, but Cedric Ceballos is like the host or something for the Suns.

From USA TODAY
Fan view: Top-flight entertainment included The Gorilla, the NBA's top mascot, the Suns dance team and the Dancing Dads, a timeout show featuring a dozen older, out-of-shape men. An ex-player, Cedric Ceballos, adds to the atmosphere as the game's hip host with a microphone

the spurs need to get hip, and hand the mic over to Vinney Del Negro.

There's a name I haven't heard in a while. He was pretty good in that famous Nick Van Exel lead lakers series a while back. Then he sucked, guess that hasn't changed.

id rather have a PA announcer showing some excitement rather than our stick in the mud boring ass Stan Kelly.

Bring over the Detroit guy anytime now.

Our PA announcer Stan Kelly is gay, I hate it when he says spurs ball three times in a row. It makes him sound like an idiot, also I hate it when he says deeeeeeefense. He needs to get better because he is terrible.

Who remembers the Nets PA announcer from the 2003 series? He sounded like a complete psychopath: The words JASSONKIDD!!! ripped from his throat in like half a second as if he was stabbing someone in a horror flick. That is the most annoying PA in basketball.

I hate the Spurs' announcer's "a little help" declaration...that is so lame.

If you have to beg the fans to make noise, you have lousy fans.

You probably know that Vinny is the Suns color analyst for their radio broadcasts.

He's a pretty good Suns homer these days.

I have been going to games for a long time, I have always thought the spurs lacked a little in the "wow" factor. Their intro is a little lame and so is the announcer, what is weird is it has been that way for as long as I can remember. Stan Kelley must be going on his 15th or 20th year as the announcer.

besides how exacting can an anouncer be when he is the sub for DJ's on Magic 105.3 The hits from the 80's, 90's and today.

GOOD POINT JIMCS50, Kelly sounds stupid when he says that, man I know he has been the PA announcer for awhile but I think he still sucks.

I didn't get to hear the one from the Suns game, but I will agree with the others in saying the Detroit PA announcer is really annoying. Stan Kelly sounds like a broken record at times though. That or he needs to come up with more phrases.

It was such a drag when Pat Tallman passed away in 1990. He will always be the voice of the Spurs to me.

Pat Tallman was awesome, nobody will ever replace him.

Crazy Lou? Annoying as hell. And he wears a headband or something which is pretty lame on it's own.

I remember reading in one of my son's basketball game that Stan Kelly got voted worst announcer.

Where does he sit, anyway? I've been trying to figure that out.

The Suns' PA guy drives me insane. Jeff Munn used to be the PA, but the AZ Diamondbacks tapped him for all their home games and made him the radio play-by-play guy when Tom Brenneman does the Fox national broadcasts and Greg Shulte (the normal D-Backs radio guy) jumps to the TV broadcasts. Munn was amazing and didn't do the insane yelling that current PA guys now do.

As for Ceballos, he does all the contests that happen during timeouts. He's actually very good with a mic. It wouldn't surprise me if they get him doing color after a while. But they would need either Dan Majerle, Vinny Del Negro, Eddie Johnson, or Tim Kempton (yeah, wtf?) to step down or be fired. Don't ask me my the Suns have four color men between TV and Radio broadcasts. Only one at a time works, though.
