that the Hornets are not ready to be the 2nd best team in the West. Basically the Spurs have Manu and the Hornets don't. They lack that guy who can take over a game late when the offense is stagnant. That's why they have to go back to playing Marcus Thornton. He's a true scorer.

Isn't he in Williams' doghouse right now because of not playing defense?

Hornets are the 6-8th best team in the west. And that's not changing until West is subtracted and a substantial amount of talent is added.

It is because Willie Green plays better defense. That's the only reason. However, Green's defense was horrible last night. Honestly, Belinelli is a better defender than Green yet Monty went with Green in the 4th quarter and the team paid for it. Green was torched in the 4th quarter.

It's actually been reported that Thorton was inactive last night because of a bruised thight.... This is in the game notes on ESPN's recap of the game:

Game notes
Hornets G Marcus Thornton (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=4017) is slowed by a bruised thigh and was among the inactives.

----

Whether or not that is true is debatable, because yes he was in Monty's doghouse. But I definitely agree that we need to work him back into the rotation, as we desperately needed a scorer in the lineup at the end of last night's game.

King Paul was inept in the 4th, but every closer has a bad game here and there!

Thanks for letting us know the Hornets aren't legitimate contenders.... we already knew. We knew because they haven't changed significantly for the past 5 years and never in this time have they been for real. And this is no surprise, they don't have enough quality players.

Thanks, we know the ESPN power rankings don't mean anything :tu

The Hornets will always be a "work in progress" team until Shinn is out of the picture.

To be fair, you guys are only one or two pieces away from being serious contenders.

Hornets got a shorter window than the Mavs since Paul is gone 2012.

haven't seen the Hornets play yet, but just from looking at their roster, they don't have a back up big and they're missing a 4th guy that can score. you need 4 guys who can score now. Paul, West, Thornon, is a nice trio. unfortunately, Peja takes up cap that could be used to get another legit scorer.

Yeah, the Hornets don't have any kind of amazing player that's a great ballhandler, great at running screen and rolls, has great court vision, or good at popping J's.

:rolleyes

If Dwight Howard is one of the pieces.
