Tim Legler said that right now there are only 2 elite teams in the league, Boston and LA. When he was reminded that the Spurs have the best record in the league, Legler backtracked and said that the Spurs have to worry about the entire season.

So does Boston and more so with them considering how old their frontline is with KG, Shaq and JO, plus their starting center is out with a knee injury.

I agree with LA because they're chasing a 3peat, but how can you not count the team that just beat a good, young Bulls team using the "Old Guys in the Gym" mentality.

They always say stuff like that, not just about the Spurs..

The PBP guy was going to say "as a contender", then he realized what he was going to say, so he changed it..if he said the former, it would have led to a Lakers segment..he said "one of" so Van Gundy and Jackson would compliment the Spurs, and THEN lead to the inevitable Lakers slurping(not that they don't deserve it)..

The Spurs' status as a contender won't be known until at least February IMO..that's usually when we know more about Duncan's knees, and we'll have an idea about the defense..

They aren't the worst if you belong to one of the 4 or 5 top media markets...

Hornets are playing just as good and played a tougher schedule.

It won't matter in the playoffs. The bugs are too small up front. They won't get past Lakers, Spurs or Mavs. A 4/5 match up with the Jazz would be a good series though.

Can't agree more with this. I was laughing so hard at Legler's obviously biased idiocy last night.
