on february 3 2010 i began writing a script for a movie. the movie would be about a man living as a working man on a ship at sea that was trying to transport liquor/food and other goods to australia from london. in the script i described in great detail the accents, gestures, mannerisms and all around traits of the main characters as well as supporting characters.

i would often write this script late at night/early in the am hours sometimes while watching pornography sometimes while eating whataburger.
the details of how i wrote it are not that important. what is important is that on july 5 2010 i finished a rough draft of my script and called one of my friends from pendant publishing who would proof read my script for me and could help tie up any loose ends i may have had.

all seemed well until the morning of august 2 2010 when said friend in the paragraph prior to this accused me of stealing his bank codes and swiping 2000 from his account to support my alleged drug problem.

that ended our friendship and as revenge, i began tagging out his little sister(who just turned 26 by the way, happy birthday melinda!).

anyways, so i have my script still and have been shopping it around to different low budget film makers when last week i am in conroe, texas just outside of houston at a dinner with a film maker and i show him the script and begin to toss out my visions for this film which i have created.

he begins to laugh and says, "youre kidding, right? who set you up for this? was it david? or max from the office?"

i ask him what he means and he tells me that this same script was purchased by his office 2 weeks ago and they are due to start filming in spring of 2011.

my heart sank.

and i knew i had been taken.

my ex-friend, now apparently a movie producer, had stole my idea.stole my script. and here we are now.

ideas/time/creativity gone and my heart is empty.

i do not know what to do.

maybe u've never been souled out by a friend and lost a van load of money

the script was purchased for a reported 250.
so that kinda pisses me off.

Something like 5000 scripts are written every year... about 5 - 600 of them get purchased and about 2 -300 of those actually become movies...

You expect us to believe that you banged out a script while watching porn that happened to be in the top ten percent of everything written and THEN go greenlit for a movie? WHATEVER!

I'm sure this is a troll attempt...but I'll play along...

To be completely honest, this is the best thing that could have happened for you-other than for you to have been signed to a movie deal.

If, in fact, you did write this script and it was good enough to have been made into a movie-then you just hit the lotto.

I am sure that you have proof somewhere, notes, early drafts, friends who read it and helped you proofread it,etc...

Right?

Then you hire a qualified attorney and proceed to fight for your rights and probably end up with screen credits, royalties, etc

or they deny it...you got yourself a case,etc...

Eventually you end up getting paid.

Quite honestly, if someone were to steal one of the songs I have written ---and they were to have a hit with it...

I would be so fuckin' lucky.

Not only is it necessary to write great material-which I already have-it is also necessary to have a fuckin' team of people to promote, publicize, sell, etc...
and a bankable front person and/or hot chick singing and sellin' your songs to even have a fuckin shot at making any real money.

So yeah, feel free to steal my shit, cause it is already copyrighted and somewhat protected.

In the old days, it used to be prudent to be kinda paranoid of getting ripped off, and you didn't even really want too many people to even have a chance to listen to anything and/or read your stuff-unless you trusted them...

but today...

It is actually BETTER to get ripped off and HOPE that they have enough game to actually turn it into a hit....THEN you can swoop in and cash in on THEIR hard work.

Think of the big picture and get a good lawyer--and even HELP this movie to be a hit.

If you aren't just trolling.

Go see the movie The Social Network.

Apply same principles (and lack thereof) to script writing industry.

Unless you have emails, voicemails or something from ex friend at Pendant Publishing you've been choded.

With all of the straight-to-DVD movies out there, you would think that it wouldn't be extremely hard to get someone to purchase your script. Watch TMC, Showtime, and the Encore channels from like 12am to 5am, that is usually when B-movies, D-movies, the good or average straight-to-DVD movies, and soft core porn are on.
