Beating a Lebron-less Cavs team by 20 doesn't mean we're "peaking too soon". Just beating a team we're supposed to beat.

If you mean by peaking that they are getting a glimpse of how much better they will be, then yeah.

They are no where close to peaking considering how many new faces/rotations they have.

Peaking too soon?

We weren't even supposed to be a top 4 team this season, much a less a contender to win the title.

Enjoy the 11-1 record and gtfo with the devils advocate drivel.

So you'd rather we be losing? Retard.

This is nothing. The Spurs have showed there is room for improvement. We are playing good basketball but not great basketball. Our high 3 pt shooting percentage has allowed allowed us to build big leads. Our defense and rotation assignments have got to continue to improve and continue to get the new guys acclamaited. Very good wins that our boys are acquiring and our true peak will happen later in the season. This team has the makings of being the most explosive team in Spurs history so the room for our peak is still there.

Peaking??? There is a lot of room for improvement here.. Splitter has yet to get into the rotation and James Anderson is out, so how exactly can you say they are peaking when they're not at their full potential?

No way. The gradual building up method hasn't worked too well since 2007. Spurs need to keep letting it rip and racking up as many wins as they can. They may just be a great team.

This is not peaking. This is improving. Little by little each member is integrating in to a whole team concept. Once defense enhanced . . . watch out!!!:lobt:

Its a long season, we are playing well with fewer minutes for our older players. Nothing wrong with this.

not a hard concept

Spammers could use that same logic and get away with it.

Do not make stupid threads and I won't have to scroll past them or watch them clog up the from page. "Fire Pop/Bonner Sucks/Trade Paker/etc." This one is right up there with them.

Especially given with our rash of Lakers fans to the site lately, ST.com could deal with a little (lot) less idiocy and a hell of a lot more well thought-out posts.

BanditHiro

we haven't peaked at all. our defense needs to improve. stop trying to get people's attention by reaching for stupid complaints. i know this fast start is killing you because it doesn't give you a lot to complain about in spurstalk but just be happy tony parker did not regress after his scandal.

The question is legit, and we won't know the answer until the end of the season.

They do look good right now, and I'll take it. I'd rather be winning right now than losing.

Seriously, no way it can be called peaking when the defense still looks like shit over most of the season. The team's got a long ways to go, but I love seeing them able to hit the outside shot this season.

This. The Spurs need to start playing defense for an entire game instead of in halves or quarters before we can make an assessment.

I think Ducks does have a point. Let us not get too carried away.

I take solace in the fact that the D can get better, that Hill, Neal, Splitter and Blair have yet to really get in a groove or find a role, and we also have another 10-15 point shooter we'll have to add into the mix as soon as he is back from injury.

That is A LOT of stuff to work on, but at the same time, we're 11-1...how much better can we get, and what if we only get worse?

I think it's healthy/wise not to be too excited, satisfied or comfortable with this start.

There are 70 games left, and just to temper the excitement, at 11-1 we have more room to worsen than we do to improve.

Agree. Very easy schedule. Let's see how they fair against some title contenders.

Spurs are probably 60% of the potential.

1) Defense is pretty suspect for most of first halves.
2) Splitter will be much better, with better conditioning.
3) Neal can be much more deadly, once ball movement is improved, and against zones.
4) Bonner could play less (as Splitter plays more).
5) Blair couln't be any worse than he was in the first 10 games.
6) Anderson might be back, in March.

Most importantly, Manu is not really serious at things right now.
He is not tearing apart defenses on penetrations. No reasons to do that yet.

Stupid...we don't win in the beginning and people say we suck, and don't have a prayer in the playoffs. We go 11-1, and people ask if we're peaking too soon? Just STFU and enjoy the ride...we're playing the best I've seen this team play since the playoffs of '99.

The Spurs are winning in many ways right now. D, 3 pointers, bench, etc..that's a good thing. We're a long way from peaking. Hoping for a win tomorrow, as I'll be there screaming my ass off. GSG!!!!

JR3
11-21-2010, 10:52 PM
We are not peaking. The defense is far from there. So the question doesn't apply.

Oh, Gee!!
11-21-2010, 11:01 PM
you really can't start peaking until after all-star break. right now spurs are collecting wins that will be helpful come playoffs when the difference between a 1st and a 8th seed is 7 games.

Vito Corleone
11-21-2010, 11:09 PM
The definition of Peaking is playing your best at a single period of time. Yes you can peak to start out a season. So the question is are the Spurs Peaking? Again, the only way to know for sure is to look back on the entire season. I can guarantee that this team is going to lose 20+ games, we have lost one. The odds are when we look back on the season we likely might just decide we peaked in November.

This.

If you ever try to argue that the Spurs are contenders all you hear in response is "Over the hill, old, done, 1st round exit"

The Spurs have to look twice as impressive just to get the benefit of the doubt, sadly.

The team needs/needed to see what they are capable of!
They may not be able to sunstain this energy all games long, but after last year, they needed to know if they can be contender again.

They know they can compete offensively, now they have all season to have a better D through 48 min...
+Splitter Neal and Anderson are not yet the players they will (supposely) be comming the PO...
+Tim is paying at 60% max... (offensively)

So NO, we are not peaking...
