Link is to site that compares Heat/Lakers progressive records to the 72 win Bulls. I don't have a link from 2008-09 when they did this before, however back then they started with:

Celtics/Lakers/Bulls

Lakers slipped and it became

Celtics/Cavs/Bulls.

Then the Celtics fell back and it was listed as

Cavs/Lakers/Bulls.

I do believe that both the Spurs and the Hornets currently have better records than either the Lakers or the Heat. I don't think any team will get 72 wins this year, but I'm just saying. If the Spurs and Hornets keep ahead of either the Lakers or the Heat, will they eventually take either's place? Bookmark the site, check it down the line.....

These things you speak of are a means to the end. Nothing more. They'd insure home court. That can't be discounted as we saw this past June. But, that's all it's good for. If you can't win the last game played in June, you're white bread.

Completely agree with you, but I think you're missing the point the OP is trying to get across. They're comparing the records of the Heat/Lakers to the 72 win Bulls, and there are teams ahead of them on the scoreboard. I actually agree.

I find the fact that the Miami Heat have their very own "Heat Index" featured on espn's NBA section to be laughably obnoxious. The level of tackiness is inversely proportional to their winning percentage.

Proven recent champions like the Lakers/Celtics deserve their own "index" more than the Miami Heat.

I know, it's sickening.

http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/

Pages and page and pages of analysis after every god damned game.

An entire article devoted to discussing Chris Bosh's "breakout" game with - hold on - 35 massive points on 11-17 shooting. I mean god damn we were truly witnessing a living legend that night.

Teams the Heat have beaten - Philly, Orlando, New Jersey x 2, Minnesota, Toronto, Phoenix, and Charlotte. Yeah..they're world beaters. I know the Spurs haven't exactly beaten the best teams in the league either, but we're 11-1, and WAY under the radar.

ESPN is not showing love to any teams except the heat. Haven't you already gotten that?

Looking at the Heat schedule, they may be eliminated from getting 72 wins before 2010 is over. If that's the case and the Spurs and Hornets are still up there, will they make the list by then? ESPN will be in a quandary.

Even if the Spurs or Hornets have homecourt over the Lakers, the two-time defending champs will still be the favorites in a 7-game series.

which is perfectly fine. the Lakers have earned that right to be the favorite ... the Miami Heat have done absolutely nothing to earn the favoritism they are receiving and that's the issue.

first off, learn some grammar...You're an idiot...not your...second off, what in my statement makes me an idiot? The fact of who Miami's beaten? Or the fact that for an 11-1 team, the Spurs are flying under the radar? Or maybe when I said the Spurs haven't exactly beaten the best teams either? Hmm...

The Spurs were plastered to the wall in May and won some meaningless games in November.

Why should we be taking them seriously? Give me one good reason.

You know damn well if both the heat and/or lakers had our exact same record right now and played the exact teams we have played so far ESPN would be orgasmic about breaking this record or that record and labeling them the greatest teams ever. Instead, it's "what's wrong with the heat" and all that bullshit. Might have something to do with us being "boring" and a small market (god I hate hearing that) team. Hornets in same boat as we are. Even as flashy as CP3 is, they still get no love.

Well unless I missed something it looks like they were listening so to speak. I checked that link and it has the Lakers and Spurs being compared to the '95-96 Bulls now. I seriously doubt either team can make a serious run at that record, but at least they have the most likely teams threatening it listed now. The Hornets deserved consideration early on, but now that they have lost 2 in row I guess not so much. Too bad things always revolve around a popularity contest when it involves media attention and such.
