Barq's is the most distinct root beer I've tasted. Not the best, but I could pick Barq's out of a root beer lineup. It is quite good though, and I'd probably take that over A&W, although I like them both.

There's one I like though that they sell at HEB that comes in a bottle, in fact I was just out tonight looking for one but they only seem to have it at certain stores, and I can't even remember the name, lol.

For straight up drinking, I like A & W. Just sweet enough but not over-powering.

For floats, gotta go with Barq's. Not as sweet and it doesn't over-power the vanilla ice-cream taste.
