Alright... so I got a traffic violation that is not eligible for Defensive Driving (I drove on the left side of a yellow line on an access road for about 30 feet to get to the turnaround, avoiding a long line of traffic)...

So, my ticket says I can pay my fine online instead of coming down. I decide that sounds like a good idea so tonight, 2 days before my scheduled court appearance, I hop on to pay my ticket...

So what does www.sanantonio.gov tell me? "NO RECORDS FOUND."

Well thanks, dipshits. Now I have the pleasure of dragging my ass downtown and spending a morning at the courthouse... ARG.

So Now there is a the ticket you have to pay for AND the parking fee. Maybe you will get lucky and there will be a quadruple homicide/police standoff and your ticket officer won't show up. [sarcasm]`

Call a lawyer that does traffic tickets. They can usually get your ticket differed if you don't get anymore for 6 months. It costs less than the fine and they take care of going to court for you. Plus, it doesn't go on your driving record.

LOL, Chris, you don't need a lawyer for that. You can go down there yourself and get that done.

I've had all of my tickets taken care of by deffered adjucation.

one time i had to go down to austin to pay a traffic ticket
and my court appointment was delayed for like an hour bc the judge kept going judge mills lane on people and giving them life advice and whatnot...so then when i finally got out of court i had a parking ticket on my car bc the meter had run out 10 minutes before

It would take me 20+ minutes to even get to the courthouse. Then there is parking. So that's already an hour wasted. The laywer charged less than the fine and not much more than paying the court costs so it was a good deal

EDIT: I don't have to take defensive driving and the ticket is not on my record.

Chris, no one who gets deffered adjudication has to take defense driving. There are no court costs, just the lower amount you pay and you go on "probation". The scenario is exactly the same only you do it with a lawyer.

Why? Everything is the same as paying the ticket, only you usualy pay less than the fine and it doesn't go on your record.

Well, it's not the same if you just want to pay the ticket through the mail or other methods, but the savings on insurance costs trump that shit for me.

To be quite honest I didn't see the few tickets I recieved screwing up my insurance premiums. But, then again I have had a clean driving record for the past several years.

Oh, Leon Valley are fuckers. So are the other small muncipalities around here. The last ticket I got was actualy last September in Olmos Park for Regististration that was expeired. It wasn't expired though, I just had never recived the sticker in the mail.

Anyhow, I argued with them about it, but it turned out my old roomate knew the officer that gave me the ticket and he got it dismissed for me. Either way, those small towns are dicks when it comes to their cash cow.

I had some pretty bad speeding violations that if I had let go on my record, probably would have sent my insurance rates climbing. Being an under 25 male, the changing wind can cause your rates to go up.

When I turned 25 earlier this year, my rates took a sharp turn downwards, it was wonderful.

My old car didn't have the bracket for the front license plate, so I never installed one. Damn license plate was on the floor of the backseat for years. I got pulled over by DPS on the way down from Dallas. Got a warning, whew!

I don't speed anymore. And for whatever reason, while on 410 I find myself in the far right lane most of the time. Maybe the insurance companies do have it right, because I have mellowed out a lot.

Oh, and thats one thing that really pisses me off about those small towns. In order to generate revenue they pull people over for these obscure laws that have nothing to do with traffic saftey and everything to do with making money. That's absolute bullshit.

The traffic code is ridiculous, though. A cop really can find a justified reason to pull you over at almost anytime because of the amount of laws that are in there. It's pretty impossible to follow them all at once.

It's a law here. In AZ, they only give you a one plate.

I did a big no-no when I first moved here. I backed into a car in a parking lot and the person called the cops. Anyway, I had a CA driver's license, AZ plates, and was living in TX. There's some tri-state law thing and I guess you could get a fine for that. But I didn't get one. I don't think he was too pleased that other person called the cops (this was like a week later). Or I just looked really cute that day...:lol

I haven't had a ticket in two years now. I had an STS that I drove the FUCK out of and had so many tickets in that thing it was pathetic. I sold it and took my foot off the gas when my last ticket for 68 in a 55 was $245. In case you don't know it, they have raised the cost of fines in the legislature to ASTRONOMICAL costs in this last legislative session. They need the money. Just a heads up. Expect any fines to be painful. And a DWI ? You don't wanna go anywhere near that shit. $1000 a year to renew your DL for the next, I think, 5 years. Be safe out there.

I've heard you can take defense driving by renting a video at Blockbuster.

And taking a test. There is also a web site, www.defensivedriving.com . They have you take a test and it takes about 6 hours. You can take the test over several days if you want.

I'd just like to point out that I had this ticket dismissed with no fees. Clandestino, feel free to suck on it.

If it's dismissed there is no record of any wrong doing.
