Did y'all hear Malik is taking Sean's place for the Minny game? I'm interested to see(listen) how that goes. I know he's doing games for the Toros now....

Is it cool that that's what I'm most interested about the game against the Wolves?

He still lives in SA and actually is continuing his Philly Phamous restaurant. There's one on the northside.

Can we switch Malik out for Jalen Rose? I'd love to see him attempt to rationalize all of his usual bull shit throughout a 48 minute game, especially if the spurs come out strong.

I saw "Rose" and was really hopeful. Malik's a great guy but sometimes I'm more eager to listen to neutral or nay-saying 3rd parties.

I wonder if Malik is the full-time backup for Elliott. If so, good choice.

Can't be worse than Lance Blanks. Dan Hughes wasn't exactly Chick Hearn, either.

Lance Blanks was haarrible. He talked so slow. I didn't mind Dan Hughes, I actually thought he talked a little more basketball than sean

I'm interested in seeing this game. I want to see Beasley in his new role, apparently Milicic is finally starting to come out of his shell, and I watched 31-31 all this summer in Turkey.

he's absolutely horrible on the MSG network, where he does commentary at halftime. i mean horrible doesn't even justify it. he's really one of the worst i've seen. he's not annoying or anything (i.e. Jalen Rose), he just gets really nervous and bad as a result. pretty sure he knows a lot about bball and he seems like a bright guy, but when the cameras are on...

never heard Malik. can't wait! :tu

PD: I'll only be able to hear him if ILPB is kind enough to have the Spurs broadcasters again for that game

hmm, will he cry? whine? I bet afterwards most will hope "it's only one game".

OMG, Lance Blanks was the WORST. I had forgotten him--mercifully.

Dude everytime I pass by his place it is dead, Pretty sure it's the location, that place has been changing hands often.

Bill Land is strong enough that Malik doesn't need to force anything. He should be fine. Will be good to get another former player's impression of the team.

Spurs announce Malik Rose will join broadcast team as color commentator for selected games. Basically, the ones Sean Elliott won't touch.

It will be good to hear Malik. I'm sure this will be a different kind of gig for him, but with his knowledge of the game, some adequate preparation, along with his warm personality, it should make for an enjoyable broadcast experience.

I always thought Sean Marks would have made a good color commentator. I remember one game I forgot what season but Elliott couldn't make it because of weather and Marks who wasn't dressing for the game filled in. He did a really good job except that he said the word "absolutely" way too many times.

How about Terry Porter's sorry ass? He was terrible. Or Coby Dietrick? He was pretty god awful as well.

Damn, I had completely forgotten about Coby Dietrick doing color commentary. He was pretty bad, wasn't he? I can only hope that Malik will be better.

I would have liked Brent or Bruce more, Brent for his humor, but that might have been awkward in light of recent developments with Erin and TP.

I'd like to see/hear Malik and Sean at the same time, as in cram all 3 of them together. But that's probably not going to happen.

I like Bill Land. Not as much of a fan as the well meaning chipmunk little guy.

Lance blanks's explanations on what to look for and player's tendencies made me question how he got a job as a scout...

As long as they don't take Bill Land away. I actually love his game calling. Way better than Dick Stockten and Joel Myers who are more widely known.

As a backup to Sean it's cool with me, better than Lance Blanks and Dan Hughes. Hughes bore the hell out of me and Blanks just sounded horrible.

On the NBA LP telecast, I've noticed that on some games, they've started providing dual telecasts, featuring both home and away broadcast teams - on separate channels, of course. For this contest, there are dual telecasts, but the same announcing team on both. Very strange.

I enjoyed him. A little rough around the edges, but nothing putting in the reps won't take care of.

He's still pretty attuned to Pop and the Spurs' plays and defensive schemes and I thought he offered a good amount of insight at times -- plus he said it would really suck to lose a game you climbed back into after being down 20. Not sure why hearing the word "suck" amuses me in that format, but it did. I'm immature and not all that smart. I'm fine with that. Sue me, not that I have anything of value. But I digress . . .
