I have to admit, it makes me laugh like lmVICTORIOUSao to know that just for you guys to get here. YOU HAVE TO TYPE THE WORD SPURS. :lmao

While I think that the quality of this particular forum has deteriorated because there isn't any real basketball talk(history2b said he would provide some but hasn't proven himself capable)...I understand. It's because you don't really know the game, or your team for that matter, that you throw out all these asinine comments hoping shit will stick.

I have to admit, I didn't think you guys could actually turn the NBA forum into the cesspool it's become but then I realize something, cesspool is all you know. Endless hours on the internet masturbating over the LAL has turned your REAL life into shit, and as such, I UNDERSTAND that you need INTERNET VALIDATION from your ilk. Tell me, are your real-life session as entertaining as the instant, Hey (InsertLALBandwagon Name Here), Kobe's a rapist and I love him, and I'm happy you do too affirmation you get from said LALBandwagon?

I want it to be known that while I respect the LAL as an organization(I probably know that team and it's storied history as well as you do, if not better), I know what they're capable of. But hey, LAST YEAR WAS LAST YEAR.

I know that the repeat cycle was null and void for Larry Bird and that didn't stop him or the teams that he led from being recognized as All-Time Greats.
I also know that 2 times the Duncan-led Spurs throttled the LAL on their way to titles and haven't missed a playoffs since Tim first got to San Antonio.

When history looks back on what Tim Duncan and the Spurs have accomplished, they'll be acknowledged as an All-Time Great, despite all the negative posts that you guys are making.

Doesn't it piss you off that, when it gets down to it, your life of postings on internet boards the world over resulted in lots of time wasted with no affect on reality? You guys posting doesn't affect Tim's All-NBA & All-NBA D team placements, nor has it stopped the Spurs from winning titles , and when it gets down to it...it has clearly established that you LALBandwagon fans as ULTIMATE ASSHOLES.

Congratulations :toast ASSHOLES

YOUR TEAM IS STILL #2. Ask Boston fan, they'll set you straight.

Just to point out, Kobe has actually accomplished LESS than TIM if you add up all the rings, Finals MVPs, MVPs, the NBA and the NBA D Team placements and the All-Star Accomplishments. If you're going to be FACTUAL, then be FACTUAL.

Curious, how do you get a count of how many Spurs fans you've ACTUALLY put into insane asylums? Is it the same way you count how many women you've slept with while using lanolin in right hand and then in left hand for variety, thereby call it a threesome?

I can already tell you...Spursfan has already had an awesome life and with the team built for NOW and the FUTURE, that life will continue!

I readily admit to Boston's numerical superiority at 17-16. It's a fact, like Kobe with 5 rings and your Duncan with just the 4.

Neal raped just like Kobe.

Man In Black
11-23-2010, 07:33 PM
It's not semantics bro...recognize. If you want to be factual, both parties engaged in sexual intercourse. Bean was the lone male in his encounter. Neal was 1 of 2. Both went to court. One went all the way to a jury trial where all the key evidence was displayed and explained and at the end, the jury acquitted Neal and his co-defendant of all charges. He's so clear that if he wanted to, he could sue you for libel and slander. That's how clear he is.

Bean, on the other hand, admitted that what his interpretation of yes was and her interpretation was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and then he said, "I'm sorry," PUBLICLY...to his wife and the world on TV.
Do I need to add the transcript again?

If you're looking to add to the pool to make Bean's offense more acceptable, all you've really done is MAGNIFIED how deviant Bean was that fateful night in Eagle.

How honest does one have to be to get you to drop the "INCORRECT" rape label? I'll defer to you. You drop it and I'll leave the 7 year skeleton back in it's closet. DEAL?

Having said that, I note that in terms of regular season winning percentage for ALL GAMES PLAYED HISTORICALLY, the LAL is #1, The Spurs are #2 and the C's are #3.

The woman told police the next morning that the couple engaged in "mutual flirting." According to sheriff's deputies who interviewed her, she did not initially resist when Bryant hugged and kissed her. But then, she reported, the athlete gripped her by the neck, bent her over a chair and raped her.

MIB,

Spurs are definitely one of the best teams no doubt and Timmy is perhaps the greates PF of all time.. Not sure what your trying to establish here but who really cares about #'s of season win %'s?

At the end of the day, these 2 facts still remain;

1. It's all about the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls (maybe).....and then everyone else
This is the Country Club the Spurs haven't joined yet

2. The above 3 (with a nice side note to include the Pistons and Rockets)
have defended their title more than twice hence cementing what the Spurs
really haven't been able to do....which is to establish a legacy.

& Pop signed Neal.

The case of the Spurs player Neal is far darker and more complex, especially to those who thought the Spurs would never sign someone with his collection of court documents. The various accounts of June 23, 2004, do not fit with the Robinson-Duncan profile.

According to police records and the victim’s testimony, she asked Neal for some pretzels, and they went into the kitchen.

“I was going to throw up,” she testified in court, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. “So the closest thing to me was the sink. So, I leaned over the sink and started throwing up, like, profusely.

In the meantime, as this is transpiring, Gary came behind me and started undoing my pants while I’m throwing up. I’m barely, like, standing.”

She testified Neal and another La Salle player raped her. She vomited again before passing out, she told the courtroom.

The Spurs then sat down with Neal three different times, including the mandatory one-on-one with Popovich. The Spurs liked what they heard, and their research supported their impressions.

Neal told a La Salle coach afterward that he had only oral sex with the woman, while Cleaves said nothing happened, a prosecutor said.
Police later found Cleaves' semen in a condom they recovered from the sink, as well as DNA that matched Neal, he said.

"They treated her less than human," Assistant District Attorney Rich DeSipio told jurors in his opening statement.

To the OP mainly, and of course everyone else.

First, I bandwagon whoever reps the west and have since the early 60's. 21 rings bitches. I have a thread about comparing the 80's Lakers/Celtics rivalry to the current Lakers/Spurs rivalry. Both teams need each other in each era to help cement their greatness. If the Spurs ring one more time and the Lakers none, this one's a wash.

When you are a basketball fan first, and don't align with either team exclusively, it's much easier to remain objective and fair. Naturally, this applies to few here, it's die hard Spurs fans versus their counterparts repping the Lakers.

As to why Lakers fans are here, (bandwagon or not), what other foe's site would they haunt? Their closest recent western rival is the Suns, and they never won a title. That in itself proves your point, they recognize Spurs greatness.

Some come just to troll. I ran history2b pretty much out of here in the thread linked in my signature. He's hardly posted since. He has no basketball knowledge. The rest of the bandwagoners I pretty much ignore. Maybe you should too?

Seriously, I have seen all the banter back and forth as Lakers and Spurs fans put each other's teams down and it gets pretty silly. Face it, these two teams have won 9 of the last 12 titles. Absoultely shit all over the league for more than a decade.

All the following are ridiculous, the 9 titles are all that count:

Kobe can't win without Shaq or Gasol
Kobe's a rapist and a chucker
Spurs are old and done
Spurs never repeated.
Tim has 4 rings as leader of the team, Kobe 2.

20 years from now, the above will be forgotten. The legacies of both teams will be set in stone and new ones will be in action.

As to the current season, it looks to me like this could be a classic year for the west. If it comes down to a WCF between the Lakers and the Spurs, I say the winner takes all. I have posted this before, but I have considered the Spurs a contender and arguably top 5. I would say right now, top 3 for certain. Last year was the first time I was going to write them off late in the regular season. However, all of a sudden during that tough late stretch the Spurs put it together. Blowout wins at the Celtics and Lakers, and home wins over the Cavs and Magic. Dallas felt their wrath in round 1. True, they stumbled against Phoenix, depriving them another shot at the Lakers, but they proved they could still compete. San Antonio and Boston must win now, and that's their drive. After that, it will be harder. Lakers need to win now to get a 3 peat. Only one can prevail, but right now, those are your three best teams.

Does this include the Larry Legend Celtics? I ask you Acme...does it? And if it doesn't, then why do they have a legacy and you say the Spurs haven't been able to establish one? Consider that Duncan has more rings than Bird, now what should you say? Going 1 point further...are the Spurs being slighted because they don't play in a major market? Say the Spurs were located in Dallas, would that give them more cache?

You got it wrong MIB. Much love for Timmy and I don't make less of Timmy's accomplishments. My comments are geared toward the franchise in general.
I should have clarified it. Timmy is an all-time great, individually that is. Many don't consider the Spurs as an "all time great" team because they haven't defended. Trust me. If your team would have defended once, you would defend my stance.

People pick and choose time frames to glorify their teams. I get it. The Spurs are right there if you talk about the last 10-11 years. That's a time frame Spurs fan picks. As a Laker fan, I'll throw this at you....who's the winningest team for the last 30 years? There, I picked my time frame. The answer is simple....The Lake show. It shadows all of what Boston has done, what Detroit has done, What Houston as done, what the Bulls did and what the Spurs did these last 30 years. You see? I don't follow stats. Stats-shmats. I want to see my team win the big prize. Period. That's the ultimate bragging right at the end of the day.

Would have been nice to see the Spurs defend. Lord knows they had damn good teams to do it but them are the breaks.

I want to see my team win the big prize. Period. That's the ultimate bragging right at the end of the day.

Would have been nice to see the Spurs defend. Lord knows they had damn good teams to do it but them are the breaks.

No hate MIB. Just my take buddy. :toast
Bird's Celtics never repeated and won one less title than the Spurs. That's a point MiB was making and no one discounts Larry's Celtics' greatness. Look for my thread I mentioned above comparing the Lakers/Celtics 80's rivalry to the current one of Lakers/Spurs. The latter isn't looked on as greater by most, but it does have more titles and has lasted longer.

Here's a question for Lakers fans. Perhaps a Spurs fan should make a thread about it and include a poll:

If it came down to a 2011 NBA finals between the Spurs and the Celtics, who would Lakers fans want to see win it? It's not a pleasant choice, but it's just the same for a Spurs or a Celtics fan if the Lakers are playing in a finals and their teams aren't. If Spurs win, they match the Lakers 5 titles in this era. Tim goes ahead of Shaq and ties Kobe for rings. If the Celtics win, tbey go two titles up on the Lakers. Los Angeles will probably end up with more titles eventually, but every title Boston wins makes it take longer. My money says Lakers fans would wish the Spurs won, LA can try again next year.

& Pop signed Neal.

Sober Neal raping vomiting-drunk chick that's blacked out. An adolescent Pop can probably sympathize with that considering what he looks like.

Can you sympathize because that's how you meet your "girlfriends"?

Easy. Spurs.

It's all about beating the Celtics and the # of championships. LA and Beantown are the standard.

So yeah, I am rooting for the Spurs. Kobe, Tim, Shaq and all these guys are but grains of sand in the hour glass of time regarding overall greatness. That's all I care about.

LA, Boston............................................ .................................................. .....and then everybody else.

There you have it. I also believe if it came down to a Lakers Celtics finals rematch, many Spurs fans would hope LA wins if for the simple reason it keeps Tim tied with Shaq for rings. Not a pleasant choice for them, but same for fans of other teams. As noted above, these things work both ways.

Spin things however you want, but I believe the Lakers edge over the Celtics in the 80's is greater than the Lakers edge over the Spurs in this era. Boston only dominated the east 1984-1987, Sixers, Pistons, and Bulls trumped Bird's Celtics before and after.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the Lakers, but I also like every other western team.

I would honestly say that if it came down to a Lakers/Celtics Finals I would probably root for the C's. Not because of Kobe, and definitely not because of Shaq, but because for a small market team like us, to do what we have done over the past decade is completely amazing. We really don't know when the next time we will get to do it again will be (if ever). It took not only the confluence of a great owner, great coach, and an extremely shrewd front office (with regards to their scouting and picks), but also lightning striking twice in 10 years for the Spurs to do what they have done. It is no secret that big stars who can have their pick of the teams would prefer to play in New York, Boston, LA, or Miami. So for the spurs to not only get two all time superstars in the draft, but also to get THE two all time superstars who didn't really care for the glitz, and only cared about winning, that is amazing. We have always been a good team, (missed the playoffs only 6 times in its whole dallas/san antonio/nba/aba history), but never elite until this last run. With all that being said the Lakers are ahead of us in rings for this era. If in 30 years the spurs haven't come back to the elite I would like to have people look back on this period of time and say "spurs 4 lakers 5, damn that must have been some fierce competition." The luster is lost a little with "spurs 4, lakers 6."
