I don't remember hearing Marion's name much the last 2 games.

Agreed. Another great effort by Bowen. We knew Marion wasn't going to have another 3 point repeat performance, but being held to 11? Big ups to you Bruce!!

Yes, it was a nice performance by Bowen on D. His switch on Nash without fouling on the last play was excellent.

Bruce kept Marion quiet for the most part in the 1st (3 pts) and 4th (0 pts) and that's big when you notice the Spurs held the Suns to 21 pts and 23 pts in those two periods.

That's 14 points in 2 games for Marion btw.

Many props to the silent warrier! His work often goes unpraised. His efforts are huge!!!!!

I can't complain. I thought his playing time would decrease in this series and his impact would be lessened.

So far, I've been wrong. Props to Bruce for stepping up.

Bowen didn't guard Marion that much tonight. He was guarding Nash at some points and Jackson at other times. Nazr guarded Marion for a good portion of his minutes as did Manu.

There was one play in the 4th where Bowen was the reason the team got the stop. He prevented Marion from scoring in the middle. It was a critical possesion, and he forced Marion to botch the ball and miss the shot eventually. A ciritical stop at a critical time.

Funny, fans in Phoenix were comparing Marion to Duncan because of similar post season stats. I think the difference is Duncan can get those numbers no matter who's guarding him.

?

He didn't. Popps started with Duncan on Amare and Nazr on Marion. Bowen spent one stint guarding Nash and then spent the rest of the game on Jackson. How else would you explain Marion scoring 11 pts?

You need to go back and watch the game again, Catharsis. This isn't poker where you can bluff your way through your position. Bowen came out defending Marion from the get-go. Take the 1st half for instance. The entire 1st half, Bowen matched up on Marion every time, except on 6 trips where the Spurs played matchup zone and twice on fast-break matchups. Bowen also switched with TP on two screens onto Nash after initially matching up on Marion. When Bowen went out and Marion stayed in, Manu defended Marion.

Nope, YOU need to rewatch the game. Just watched the 1st quarter replay on ESPN. Bowen did not guard Marion once. Manu guarded him with the exception of Nazr on a couple posessions. Bowen was guarding Jackson.

Let me give you some advice, Catharsis. Watch who a player matches up with early in the shot clock. Watch for switches. Watch for a zone alignment. Watch on fastbreaks, first guy back has to ensure the lead man doesn't score, whether it's his assigned guy or not.

I did rewatch the entire game, Catharsis. I'm trying to be patient with you but you just aren't seeing it.

Are you watching a replay of game one? Bowen didn't guard Marion once in the 1st quarter. He came in about 9:30 in the second and guarded Marion while Manu was on the bench. After about five minutes he went back to Jackson and Richardson and Marion was being guarded by Manu. In the 3rd quarter it's been Manu on Marion. Bowen's clear assignment hasn't been Marion for much of the game. From what I've been able to gather (through the 3rd), Bowen has only guarded Marion when Manu was out with the exception of a couple transitions--not more than a couple. Bowen only played 33 minutes to Marion's 44--but they were on the court together for ALL of Bowen's minutes.

Look at Jackson's stats. He was shut down because of Bowen.

Funny, i've been arguing with wolves fan all playoffs long about how much better Bowen and his contract is than Trenton and his.

He's going off now about how Marion scored an "additional" 8 points in game two off him.

Very typical response from a Box score reader.

In game 2, Marion did score 3 pts. with Bruce on his hip with an "and-1". As I remember, the rest of Marion's pts. came when Manu was defending Shawn while Bruce sat or on fast breaks where Bruce couldn't match up on him in time. Never-the-less, 11 pts. is not Marion-esque.

Bruce's last second block on Nash without fouling him was awesome. Every time I see that replay I'm amazed at how fast he got over there and how controlled he was not to bump him. Bump him on a 3-point play and Nash is going to tie it up with free throws. That was the best play of the game IMO. I don't care how many points he gets or doesn't get per game...plays like that make him worth every cent.

Bruce gets 12+ points in Game 3 or 4. He's due.
