For sentimental "wish I could have been there" reasons, there was the Bird steal and dish for the layup, and you've got Jordan doing it three different times - the crossover on Utah at the end of his career, the hanging game winner over Craig Ehlo, and the changing hands down the lane layup.

But Manu's still got several years left ;)

Dr J hanging in the air behind the backboard vs the Lakers. in the finals
Bird stealing the inbounds passing to dj as hes falling out of bounds as time is expiring vs Detroit in game 6 to extend it to 7. essentially willing a crippled celtics team to 1 last finals trip vs LA
Jordan steals the ball, saves it from going out of bounds, goes half the length of the court and flips in the shot against detroit in the 91 conference finals.

Yep.

That Manu moves was sick, but Dr J around the backboard is the best move I can recall ever seeing in the NBA. So good it was pathetic.

Manu's was very nice though.

The three best moves I've ever seen in the playoffs:

1) Dr. J up and under on Mark Landsberger

2) Bird shoots the three, misses, gets the rebound... still in the air switches hands and lays it in while all his momentum is carrying him behind the basket (Game 1 of the 81 Finals vs Houston I think).

3) Dr. J rocks the baby to sleep with the windmill on the break as Cooper's chasing him

Jordan's shot in game 5 of the 93 Finals to ice the game was pretty filthy too. The one where Barkley fouls him and sends him spinning and he just throws it up and in.

That sounds bad! How come they don't broadcast the NBA in Slovenia? (You guys seem to be hardcore basketball fans, here basketball is the second or third sport) They claim that it's too expensive for the money it costs. While it may be true at first glance I think they are just lazy. With a little work they could easily create the needed interest - I know there's a big fan base that would just go crazy for it given the opportunity.

Just one example - there is no real coverage beside anouncing the scores of the NBA teams where Slovenians play the day after. When I was in SA in February I bought a couple more Spurs hats than I was asked too, upon returning to Ljubljana I gave those away in a day because anybody I know and saw me with my hat asked about it - so in April I went back to SA and I had a shopping list for Spurs gear (since anybody who heard I was going asked for something) and this time I bought 10 Spurs hat more - guess what they dissapeared the first week. People in the street were actually stoping me and asking where they could buy those.

I know the feeling. In the 90's we would get something like 5 games (live) per week during the regular season, and most of the playoffs (the MJ Bulls were broadcasted by the national television, not a private network, something like the English BBC or the Italian RAI).

When the economy started to collapse here, we would get only two games per week, but most of the playoffs.

Then at the start of this season, there was no broadcast at all. ESPN entered the negotiation with the NBA, who asked more money for the TV rights.

Finally they reached an agreement, where we get two games per week during the regular season. In this playoffs, we got two Spurs games per round in the first two rounds. Now they are broadcasting the whole series, because of the pressure expressed by the viewers.

I believe you should tell this to every Slovenian basketball fan, look for Sports networks or just regular channels, and send them e-mails or letters declaring your interest in the NBA. If an important number of potential viewers is reached, advertisings for the broadcast will appear and that is the key. Someone willing to buy tv ads during broadcasts.

Of course, in Slovenia the game times aren't the best, but from what I know about your country a good number of people would watch games, even if they are re-runs.

You're arguing bigger or more clutch shots, I am not. I'm talking about the most creative or best move with the game on the line. Jordan steals the ball isn't creative, maybe clutch but not creative. Dr J's shot was arguably better.

Ginobili's play was the tops of the playoffs this year, but I think Dr. J's moves were probably the sweetest because they were nearly as acrobatic as some of the stuff Ginobili does, only it was done with a much bigger frame.

A little different perspective:

Driving to the right side of the basket with the defender on your left, and passing the ball 360* from left hand, behind the back to the right hand, and back to the left hand, and then shooting layup with your left hand with lots of twist off the backboard is "dog walking on his hind legs. Amazing that he can do it, but why do it?" ... when laying the ball, already in your right hand, straight in with your right hand is so much more natural and higher percentage, with the ball away from the left-side defender.

I amazed that Manu is 100% left-handed even for layups.

One of the biggest differences between Wade's and Manu's play is that Manu is shooting 50% from the 3pt line in the playoffs, it might not be so easy to keep him out of driving to the rim.

Prince is a WAY better defender than Marion, and Pisstons as a team are superb defensively. Manu will have a LOT more trouble penetrating or scoring at all, that's a fact. How much they can contain him, and what other "tricks" Manu will pull out of his sleeve to counteract is still a mistery.
