No worrys. I'd rather have them win 12 and lose 1 than lose 11 and win 1.

Looking at the upcoming schedule, they're facing the Hornets at New Orleans, then they'll play Golden State 2 times, and the Wolves, and the Hornets at Spurs, and the Hawks at San Antonio. (That isn't in order) I'm thinking Spurs can win 6 out of 7 of those games, but they've got to prove themself's at Hornets on Sunday.

It's hard to be upset with this loss after that kind of win streak.

Pop needs to work with this team on ball movement against the zone. The Spurs have always had trouble when the Mavs switch to zone. Manu and Hill play well against it because they can shoot the 3 and drive the lane. The rest of the Spurs need to figure it out.

First off, Timmy and Manu both had the same number of assists (4). And since he's the only seven footer on the team, he should lead them in rebounds. My point is, when it's nut cutting time, Timmy didn't come through. And I think we all expect more from Timmy than Jefferson or Bonner.

I beg to differ. The score was 91-88 with about 3 min left when Tim took his only shot of the entire 4th quarter! I mean that's not taking a backseat, this guy is not even in the discussion offensively anymore. He is supposed to be Ben Wallace. He can't score on Ian Mahimi? really?

Why be concerned with the previous 45 minutes when the Spurs could have still won the game in the last 3. Instead they basically decided to let Manu take the keys, which he proceeded to drive us into a ditch.

Outside of that, Dallas is ridiculously stacked, and we'll have our hand full beating them in the remaining 3 games this year.

Yes, the game was lost in the last minutes because the game was tied with 4:41 left. And the Mavs were scoring in the half court down the stretch. Dallas D looks improved from last season.

Spurs played a different type of ball game that they've been playing all season.

Too many players trying to dish out a pass as they're up in the air. Poor passing decisions majority of the time. Other times recipient just wasn't looking for the ball or took their eyes off to trying and deliver something quick and drop the ball.

Hill showed improvement from previous games.

Bonner despite being off on his shot tonight looked really aggressive out on the floor was fighting out their with the minutes he had. Partly why I think Pop stuck with him.

Overall the first half blunders really ruined the spurs chances on having a comforting lead going into the half.

If there was a game to lose like this with poor bball decisions, it's going to be against the mavs. Dirk just wouldn't miss tonight. I'm surprised at how much Chandler improved his free throw shooting...well haven't watched previous games but he was delivering on the line tonight. Jumpers were not falling for our spurs tonight from key players.

I liked Neal's hustle D on Terry. Really swarmed him the majority of the time.

Dice has had two back to back terrible games. Not sure what his deal is, but he just looks a step off or tired/lazy.

Tiago had some good minutes, would have liked to see him tossed in place of dice.

Blair was playing well, just undersized in his match up to play dirk. When Dirk placed his back to Blair via post blair seemed to really be able to aggressively manage against him then. Sucks that he got pulled out the rest of the game, he did a decent job and really didn't make any big defensive mistakes.

Overall, With only our 2 lose of the season. I'm sure the coach staff is going to show a lot of film on the miscues from our boys in silver and black.

Dejuan Blair makes a few really good plays on Dirk in a row, and is immediately subbed for Bonner, and neither he nor Splitter make another appearance.

BTW, I move that we should referring to any three guard lineup featuring Bonner as a three guard lineup, and call it what it is: a four guard lineup. When Bonner can't use his size against Shawn Marion, he's not a big.

On the bright side, Pop had Blair in as a small forward...for six tenths of a second.

Ok let's not get stupid now. Manu has had "The Keys" all season and it's lead us to 12-1. So back the fuck off on that.

Warlord23

The only reason the score was tied with 4:41 to go was the Mavs missing a dozen or so FTs, while the Spurs somehow shot 93% from the line. Without that, the Mavs would have been leading comfortably throughout. This type of game will get us beaten 99 times out of 100 against elite teams, whether or not Tim misses his only shot attempt late in the game.

Yeah, I agree. I think the Mavs did a great job throwing some different looks at the Spurs to disrupt their offense. And Marion did a pretty good job on Manu in the 2nd half. But, the Spurs flaws on offense on fixable.

One area where I wish the Spurs had tried to exploit more was the man-to-man defense of the Mavs bigs, specially when Splitter was in. Splitter in his 8 minutes did a great job finding open areas and getting good position, would have liked to have seen him play more minutes.

I know Pop threw Bonner in to try and break the zone, but none of his shots looked good at all. Bonner (expected) and Dice did not to an acceptabl job rebounding the ball.

On that note, Pop needs to set a solid rotation and start using that. Stop switching minutes around, and play Tiago for once. But I can't wait for Anderson to come back. His size and 3-point shooting just makes our team better. Playing Neal at SF doesn't help at all. There were a couple of floaters that Marion got over Neal that Neal just had not shot of contesting.

But yeah, I'm not doing any type of BS full anaylsis right now, cause I gotta take a shit, lol. Spurs will bounce back better against the Hornets, and hopefully we can get a big win on the road. Tim Griffin

...Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle praised Ginobili as playing as well as any big guard in the league this season. That praise was understandable after watching him slice through the Mavericks for 16 points in the first quarter en route to a game-high 31. But the tenor of the game changed when Ginobili went to the locker room with a bloody nose late in the third quarter. He returned to score nine points, but missed a couple of 3-pointers that could have brought San Antoino back into the game.

Unlucky 13: Mavs halt Spurs’ win streak at 12 (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2010112624)
By Paul J. Weber

The San Antonio Spurs were going to lose eventually.

But the Dallas Mavericks seemed to enjoy being the ones who finally ended their four-week unbeaten streak more than most.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 points and the Mavericks ended San Antonio’s winning streak at 12 games, beating the Spurs 103-94 on Friday night. It was just the second loss of the season for the Spurs, who had been perfect in November.

The last time the Mavs were in San Antonio was April—when their season ended in Game 6 in their first-round series to the Spurs, after Dallas entered as the heavily favored No. 2 seed in the West.

This time, Mavs guard Jason Terry left asking: What streak?

“We didn’t know what the streak was,” Terry said. “This is what the rivalry is about. We play them three more times and probably in the playoffs again.”

Manu Ginobili had 31 points for the Spurs, 16 in the first quarter alone. But two nights after rallying from 21 points down on the road to beat Minnesota, the Spurs couldn’t stop Dallas on a 14-2 run during the final five minutes.

The Mavs scored 32 points in the fourth. Shawn Marion scored 11 of his 19 points in the quarter, including the 3-point play that put the Mavs up for good.

“The last few games we were executing great down the stretch and making shot, but today they did,” Ginobili said. “It was pretty clear they made all the shots they needed and we didn’t.”

Tyson Chandler also had 19 points for the Mavs, and nearly all from the foul line. Chandler, a career 62 percent free-throw shooter making his debut in the Dallas-San Antonio rivalry, hit 13 of his 16 foul shots.

Yelled Terry across the Mavs’ locker room afterward: “We know who’s shooting our technical free throws.”

George Hill scored 21 points off the bench and gave San Antonio what would be its final lead with 4:45 left after a steal and tiptoe in front of the scorer’s table before coasting in for a layup.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle and his bench erupted, screaming that Hill had stepped out of bounds. Turned out Dallas had nothing to worry about.

After Hill’s basket put the Spurs ahead 88-86, San Antonio turned the ball over three times on their next four possessions.

“You can blame it on the little turkey or whatever,” Hill said. “But it happens it’s been a good journey so far. The only thing we can do is focus on Sunday.”

At 13-2, the Spurs still have the best record in the NBA but not their longest winning streak in three seasons. Next up for San Antonio: New Orleans, the only other team to beat the Spurs this season.

Tim Duncan had 15 points for the Spurs, and Tony Parker had just nine points on 4 of 12 shooting.

The Mavs returned to San Antonio for the first time since their season ended in Game 6 of a stunning playoff elimination last season. Dallas was seen as a legitimate threat the Lakers’ supremacy in the West, but instead couldn’t get past the first round.

This one could have passed for Game 7. The fourth quarter saw five lead changes and one tie before the Mavs pulled away.

Neither of the Texas rivals retooled their rosters much since their playoff series in April. But they don’t look entirely like the same, either.

The Spurs entered Friday as the second-highest scoring team in the NBA, averaging 108.0 points—their highest since the 1987-88 season, and nothing like the stifling, defense-first Spurs that have defined them since coach Gregg Popovich took over.

Nowitzki, the NBA’s second-leading scorer, was 12 of 14 from he floor and made both his 3-point attempts.

But Nowitzki was happiest about the shots he didn’t have to take.

“Offensively, there were times in the past where we would force-feed the ball to me,” he said. “But we haven’t done that the last couple of games. We kept moving the rock.”

The Mavericks won this one without backup center Brendan Haywood, who was suspended by the team before the game for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Carlisle said Haywood’s suspension was only for this game but refused to say why the 10-year veteran was disciplined.

Haywood traveled with the team to San Antonio but was not at the game. The Mavs announced the suspension about an hour before tipoff.

“Everyone is held to a high level of accountability,” Carlisle said.

Notes: The Spurs are still off to their best start through 15 games in team history. … Nowitzki has averaged 34 points in his last three games. … Spurs F Richard Jefferson scored just two points and missed all four of his field goal attempts.

Dallas Mavericks 103, San Antonio Spurs 94: Where we see that Tony Parker can have a bad game (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/)

48 Minutes of Hell

AT&T CENTER — If Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves was the ugliest game of the season (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/san-antonio-spurs-113-minnesota-timberwolves-109-the-spurs-get-an-a-for-persistence-not-much-else), Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks was the slightly better looking sister who shut you down. Not as ugly, but way more stuck-up. Definitely not a night you would brag to your friends about.

San Antonio’s 12-game winning streak finally came to an end at the hands of the rival Dallas Mavericks. In some early-season evidence that the Spurs can have an off-night offensively, San Antonio got only 13 assists on 31 field goals. The Mavs assisted 28 of their 39 field goals.

Mavs halt Spurs' win streak with 103-94 victory in San Antonio
01:31 AM CST on Saturday, November 27, 2010

SAN ANTONIO – They have a Ripley's Believe it or Not across from the Alamo down here, but the real odd-itorium was at AT&T Center Friday night.

Strange stuff was going on all over the place – the traditionally slow team trying to win racehorse style and the gunners trying to grind one out.

The Mavericks had their first internal hiccup with suspended center Brendan Haywood. And, by the way, the San Antonio Spurs are no longer Tim Duncan's team.

But the biggest piece of weirdness was the Mavericks handing the Spurs just their second loss of the season, riding Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler and Shawn Marion to a 103-94 victory.

It ended the Spurs 12-game streak.

"It was a game of will and we survived," coach Rick Carlisle said. "We really tried hard and had great spirit."

Not to mention a 9-0 run to tilt the game in their favor late in the fourth quarter. Down 88-86, Marion hit a three-point play and Jason Terry and chandler each scored. Nowitzki finished off a grand shooting night with a 16-foot fadeaway that made it 95-88 and the Spurs were effectively done with 1:44 to go.

Marion did a terrific job on Manu Ginobili, who burned the Mavericks with 16 first-quarter points but only got 15 the rest of the way.

"That's two games in a row (Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City on Wednesday) that Shawn has gone toe-to-toe and battled one of the top players in the team," Carlisle said. "The rest of the group fed off that."

Said Marion: "Everybody was supporting each other and doing what we had to do to get some stops.

"This is a big week for us, a challenge for us. And we're stepping up. And we got another big one."

The Mavericks seem to play hugely entertaining games on a nightly basis now. That trend figures to continue tonight when the circus that is LeBron James , Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat make their only Dallas visit of the season.

It'll have to go some to top Friday's action, which started with news that backup center Brendan Haywood was suspended for Friday's game for "a violation of team policy," Carlisle said.

"I'm not going to expound on it any more than that," he said. "It's going to remain an internal matter. The only thing I'll say is in two-plus years, one thing I've grown to respect and admire about Mark (Cuban) and this franchise is that everyone's treated great and everyone is held to a high level of accountability. We expect a lot and we're going to make sure things are right."

That set the tone for an off-beat night. To see the San Antonio Spurs hoisting up 3-pointers like coach Gregg Popovich is getting in touch with his inner Don Nelson, it was an unusual night. The Spurs shot more threes, made more and also had more turnovers (18).

Neither side led by more than six points through three quarters. Nowitzki was sizzling throughout the game, making his first six shots and finishing 12-of-14.

But Ginobili was just as good – until the fourth quarter when Marion hounded him. It was the second game in a row the Mavericks dominated the fourth period, holding the Spurs to 37-percent shooting and Ginobili to 2-of-5.

The Mavericks shot 72 percent in the fourth and they could credit their defense and ball movement. They had 11 assists on 13 buckets.

"The coaches put together a great plan and did a great job of communicating it and making sure we understood it," said Chandler, who had 19 points (13 from the foul line) and eight boards. "That's what we need from Shawn. I don't care how many baskets he makes, he makes so much happen out there on defense – and on offense. He definitely earned his nickname tonight – the Matrix."

Briefly: When Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki both were on the court early in the second quarter when a technical foul was assessed on the Spurs, it was Terry who shot the free throw, not Nowitzki, as usual ... Alexis Ajinca was activated for the first time this season. Because of Haywood's suspension, he also saw his first action in the second quarter.

Interesting note: Guess who was the co-host of the Dallas Mavericks postgame show last night? Mike "I love Dirty Mexicans" Bacsik.

Not likely. Tyson Chandler is beasting the Heat, and it's only going to get worse. Tim Duncan deserves WAY more credit for his play against Chandler than he's gotten.
