View Full Version : "Duncan not expected to return" after lockout?

Just finished reading some analysis from Bleacher Report, and this was something that was mentioned. From the context of which it was said they make it sound as if this is common knowledge and all but confirmed. Has anyone heard of any CONCRETE evidence of Duncan or the Spurs saying this? This would seem contrary to Duncan's statement "til the wheels fall off". I know how notorious Bleacher Report is for making false statements, but they sure make it sound serious.

As time goes by i am more and more sure that Tim Duncan will join Ginobili in retirement day, that means he will ETO out next year and resign for 2 years at less (30M) or that he will resign for another year after the next.
I think he and Manu will play 3 more years.

There's been nothing confirmed by Duncan or the team. It's all speculation.

Duncan could care less about Manu's contract. He will retire when he wants to.

I don't know, Shoog . . . care less? The big 3 seem at least somewhat committed to each other with Manu and TP signing extensions and Tim's "'til the wheels fall off" declaration. It appears that they would prefer to play together as long as possible.
Of course, it's all predicated by health and level of success, but I don't see any reason to doubt that they are all in.

Prowess on defensive rotations (not labor relations) will determine how long Duncan chooses to wear the Silver and Black.

About Marilyn:

Howdy! I'm from San Antonio, TX, and I graduated with a degree in Spatial Science from Texas A&M University. (In case you're wondering, SS is the study of the Earth's surface from space.) I love the Aggies and Spurs, and I'm also a passionate soccer fan. I've played soccer since 1st grade, and was named the top goalkeeper in South-Central Texas my Junior year in high school. I watch as many games by the US Men's National Soccer Team (USMNT) as possible. The World Cup is my favorite sporting event of all!

Well kudos to her for finishing her degree and her love for soccer. I'm sure she's a great person.

It does emphasize the point that people who don't even list basketball as an interest can write about basketball for Bleacher Report. Though I'm sure her soccer analysis is great.

The Aggette probably read it somewhere and took it as gospel. I'm sure many people in the media and around the league would LIKE for Tim to go away, but I'm thinking two years after this deal. The lockout actually saves some wear and tear on Tim's body.

I think the author is getting Duncan mixed up with McDyess, who isn't expected to return.

Bleacher Report is a fan-generated site. It's like someone saying that here on the forum. Anyone can sign up and write there. So it's just a fan's opinion.

I don't want to see Duncan as a role player, shadow of his former self.

2012 should be it.
