The Kings have cut Antoine Wright. I say the Spurs should snag him as our backup SF and send Udoka packing ASAP. Should we go after Wright?

Would be pretty pointless. Both players have 0 upside and you're going to replace one that has to learn the system with one who already knows it. I'd rather Udoka just stay, his defense has been pretty good actually but he really needs to be told not to shoot.

Wright's ability to run >>>> Udoka's system knowledge

If he was considered a troublemaker and hated by the mavs while on the mavs team imagine how bad he would fit in here.....

:lol Absolutely not. In the mean time, Udoka can go ahead and miss the team bus as well. K, thanks.

Maybe a tad better then IME talent wise but I would give Ime the edge with him knowing the Spur's sytem. Both are pretty much useless though :lol

Not even worth the effort of Burning Ime's contract and not worth the ink to sign Wright.

Actually, he's not, for all his running/jumping ability.

Exactly.

Wright is longer, younger, quicker, more athletic and a better individual defender, but he's just as mediocre (and that's being generous) an outside shooter and from what I've heard of him, is not really a Spurs type player. Not a bad guy, just not Spurs material.

I'd rather them not go through the trouble of bringing in a comparable player and one who doesn't know the system. The one positive about Udoka is he can plug-and-play, so to speak. Obviously, he'll need (and is getting) a refresher course on some things, but that's more ideal than a guy who needs to be taught those same things and who's going to need minutes to feel comfortable with those things. The type of minutes that, barring injury, aren't going to be afforded to that roster spot.

Why?, you need someone to show you around the casinos in Vegas?

+1. With the limited amount of playing time Wright would receive, he would probably complain about playing time. Wright seems like the type of player who teases you with his talent, but to me, hes just a JAG out there.

they both suck and should not be getting minutes.

With the understanding that James Anderson will be returning this season, I prefer Udoka since he can slide right in and, maybe not a big positive factor, will not hurt the Spurs.

If James Anderson is going to be out for the season I'd like Wright to get a look to see, since he might have a higher ceiling than Udoka.

It's picking Scrub A vs Scrub B and I'd prefer the guy who at least knows the Spurs system and is less of an unknown

you mean the trash the mavs started a couple of years back?

If the Udoka come back fails, Wright will be a prime candidate to be signed.

what I don't understand:
Wright had a guaranteed contract AND the Kings didn't have any urgency about roster spots. (they had 14, now they are at 13)
unless they work on a trade that brings back two more players than they send out (unlikely, considering their salary structure), there must have been some issues that forced the Kings to waive him at this point.

but yes, if Spurs can get him for an un guaranteed contract, why not try.

From what I've read I'm not convinced that he wouldn't be a problem. But why not try? Sign him up with Ime for a few weeks and keep the one you like better.

I try it again.
the major question isn't if Wright fits or how good/bad he is etc.
it is: is he willing to sign an un guaranteed contract, like Ime and Green did.
(I doubt he is)
because Spurs for sure won't want to hand out a guaranteed contract for a potential stopgap at this point. (at this point they don't know when Anderson will be back, how Dec.15th will affect the market, what options deadline could bring, what buyouts/waivers after deadline happen)

I suppose I'm unemotional either way. If it's a 3-5 minutes a game player for the duration of Anderson's absence then it's not a huge deal. Ime makes a lot of sense for his experience, but Wright it probably a better basketball player with more talent. Still, Wright sounds like a bit of a douche and Ime is a solid citizen no matter what you think of his basketball skills.

Eh, who cares.

Apples and oranges...

Just a matter of preference, do you want a bag of oranges or a bag of apples sitting at the end of the bench?

This is what I meant yesterday when I said "he's not Spurs material"...

The Kings waived forward Antoine Wright. (http://www.sacbee.com/2010/11/30/3220405/kings-notes-cousins-gets-heave.html) Wright signed a one-year deal worth $992,680 this summer. He played in seven games, totaling two points and three rebounds. Wright wasn't happy with his role behind Greene, Francisco Gárcia and Omri Casspi at small forward. Sacramento Bee (http://www.sacbee.com/2010/11/30/3220405/kings-notes-cousins-gets-heave.html)

I remember last season with the Raptors, he was outspoken about Triano not holding the players accountable for their defensive mistakes.

Career 41%/30%. So far all I can see is running and jumping. You can find that at any rec center.
