I saw the movie last night a sneak preview and I have to say it was better than I thought. Adam Sandler was funny as hell and there were alot of stars in the film. I have to say this was a well done remake taking nothing away from the original and even including Burt Reynolds.

i haven't seen the original...i've passed by it a few times while channel surfing...

but i've seen smokey n the bandit a few dozen times...

[Regarding The Bandit in a hammock]
Big Enos: Son, you're looking at a legend.
Little Enos: I guess a legend and an out-of-work bum look a lot a like, daddy.

Bandit: Nice matching suits. It must have been a bitch to get a 69 Extra Fat and a 12 Dwarf.

that's last one is why me and mouse don't go shopping together... :lol

Why ruin a classic movie?

Why ruin a classic movie?I dont think the new one ruins it at all. If you watch it, it is somewhat of a sequel for Burt, not just because he was in the first one. Why would you say that it ruins it?

I have no desire to watch this film at all. I like the old classic but I may rent the DVD.

"Nobodah...NOBODAH...makes Sheriff Buford T. Justice look like a POSSUM'S PECKAH!"

"Except for that..."

"Shut yo' ASS!"

:lol

Smokey and the Bandit is one of the main reasons I'm a truck driver today.

"Well the more wheels I got the better I like it...I'm the brother of a truck drivin' mother! Boogity, boogity, boogity" -- Jerry Reed

I've watched the original many times, so I can't imagine this one being as good. That being said, I'm not a Adam Sandler fan at all, but.....I'll probably go watch it b/c the wife wants to see it.(I'm always picking the movies, so this time I let her. LoL) The first one was funny, but good 'ol fashion fun. This one, and I'm only guessing, will probably have alot of "bathroom humor", which at times is not funny. But, oh well! I'll wait and see!!

Longest yard is gettin awful reviews which sucks cause I have plans to go see it tomorrow. Most reviewers said something to the effect of you'll want the hour and half back that you spent watching it.

Can anyone tell me why I should go see it?

this movie is okay. not a waste of time, but nothing spectacular. i had to see it bc i thought the first one was bad ass.. thing is, they are two different beasts. 1st one was more like a drama while this second one is a comedy.

Most of my all time favorite movies got shitty reviews. Most of the shittiest movies I've ever seen got GREAT reviews.

I usually listen to the reviews and take them in reverse. If Larry Ratliff loves a movie, I avoid it like the plague.

Saw the redo this past weekend.

The original is one of my personal 20 favorite movies of all time.

The remake isn't even in the top ten movies I've seen this year. . .and I've only seen four.

I saw it Monday, and I wanted to like it, I'm a Sandler fan and a Chris Rock fan, except for a few lines that made me laugh the movie wasn't that great.

The original is still better and will hold up as good cinema for years to come whereas the remake is a pale shadow of the original and will be in the $7.99 discount bin before summer is over.

You can say that about 98% of the remakes Hollyweird has spewed out.

True, ASF, but Johnny was right on in his take.

Had this not been a remake I would have thought it was an ok Adam Sandler movie, but not one of his best.

This was definitely a case of the remake falling wayyy short of the original product.

The only Adam Sandler movie I truly enjoyed was Happy Gilmore. I haven't seen TLY yet, but with some of the reviews I've seen in this thread make me want to wait for the DVD so I can rent it for $1 at HEB.
