This would be a really big win. Obviously winning against any division opponent is huge, but keeping a serious threat down when they are playing poorly is very important. Not to mention losing to a division opponent twice at home would be alarming.

I think West is one of those players that, generally speaking, the Spurs will let get his so they can focus on other aspects, especially as long as he is getting it off of that mid-range jumper. You can't stop all of New Orleans' weapons, but containing Paul and getting to their shooters on the arc is arguably more important.

You certainly don't want West getting in the paint or wreaking havoc on the boards, but if he is going to stand back and shoot that jumper all night, that's probably his best case scenario. If he makes them, well...you tip your hat and get back on defense.

Problem is the Spurs find themselves tipping their hats to West's shooting almost every game :lol.

After a while, you have to do something to stop it. You have to make others beat you. But that is what makes guys like CP3 so tough; you know what they want to do and still can't stop it.

Spurs never really shut down Paul, but now more than ever they need to make him a scorer. He has been somewhat reluctant to shoot, especially in the fourth. He is still playing well, but that is what I would roll with.

Well I am most interested in the start. The Spurs have openly talked about digging themselves out of early holes. You know they are focused on it. It will be interesting to see if they actually start out strong.

I know sometimes seasons just have a way of going in certain directions, but I really hope these slow starts aren't something we see all year.

It makes it much harder to manage minutes when you are always playing from behind.

Statement game for the Spurs, as much as a 16-3 team can make.

We've come out flat against two cellar-dwellers.

I've love to see this team blow out the Hornets right from the start to show we were just playing down to our level of competition the last two games.

I'd still like to see Tiago on West. Get that youngster as many minutes as possible vs. skilled big men.

Hornets games are always really tough..Spurs have to come out strong, they won't come back from a big deficit again, they won't have the energy, it has already happened in 3 of the last 6 games..

The defensive keys will be to limit the 3-point shots..the Spurs are one of the worst teams in the NBA at defending the 3 and allowing open looks on the perimeter..Hornets are a top 10 team from spot-up shooting..they're inconsistent, but they have some players that can get hot..

The other is to obviously defend the p&r, particularly West and Okafor..the West strategy will be interesting..he has been struggling vs. smaller defenders, as we saw with Jefferson last week..it'll be interesting to see if Monty Williams and West have planned for this..

Offensively, obviously the 3s are key, as usual..the Hornets are a top 5 team in the NBA at defending in the post, so Duncan's post game won't be key, it'll be a luxury if he has a good game..so the other key will be to keep running pick and rolls, as the Hornets are poor at defending it, especially the ballhandler(so Parker, Manu and Hill)..
