Bynum's production isn't the difference. But what Bynum does provide that is more important than production is giving the Lakers better depth up front. It's not like Bynum will necessarily dominate in 20/10 fashion. But he takes pressure off of Pau and allows him more rest so his vagina isn't as fatigued as it is now. And it gives the front court better depth off the bench by moving Lamar back in that role. Other things still need to change but getting Bynum back certainly helps. He alone turning things around? Probably not. But it's silly to think he doesn't help.

Andrew Bynum's absence becomes more glaring with each Lakers loss
The Lakers try to shrug off their fourth consecutive defeat but say they need their injured center back in the lineup.
December 02, 2010|By Mike Bresnahan, Los Angeles Times
Reporting from Houston — As the losses pile up, the Lakers begin to wonder when center Andrew Bynum will return.

"Of course," forward Ron Artest said. "He's one of the top, what, three centers in the NBA, maybe?" :lmao :lmao :lmao :lmao

Said forward Lamar Odom: "Of course we miss him."

Bynum is expected to go through a second day of half-court scrimmaging Thursday, and the next step after that will be a full-court scrimmage, probably next week. It's still unclear when he will return to game action this month, but the sooner the better for the Lakers (13-6), losers of four consecutive games for the first time since April 2007.

Bynum doesn't contribute much to the Lakers, he's just a useful body. Bynum is the 3rd best big on the team.

But things aren't really wrong w/ the Lakers. They've shown they can lockdown on D when they want to... they're just coasting a little so far.

Mavs/Lakers will be an epic WCF.

yup he is the 3rd best big for them, behind Pau and Odom, and the rest bigs are all sheer dipshits that's why they cannot afford to lose any of them. lose one angle and the triangle breaks apart. with Bynum out Pau has to play vast minutes, chafing bodily against opposing bigs who are black big and swole.

Lakers need another big to take some dirty works off Pau imho.

Good shit. When Bynum comes back, very few teams can match up against the Lakers' frontcourt. The question is, will Bynum ever be healthy for a full season at all?

Bynum is huge for the Lakers. They lack depth and bulk at the Center position. Gasol is better at PF. Gasol is also better when he plays less and can have more energy to end games. The lost of Ratliff makes it impossible for Gasol to get his needed rest. And Odom coming off the bench is needed as well. Just so many things added just by having Bynum available.

Andrew Bynum practicing, may well return this week (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/06/andrew-bynum-practicing-may-well-return-this-week/)
Kurt Helin

Pau Gasol’s sore hamstring (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/03/pau-gasol%e2%80%99s-hamstring-ailing-but-lakers-have-no-other-good-options/) wants this to happen sooner rather than later.

Andrew Bynum has been participating in full practices with the Los Angeles Lakers for several days now and could return to the team this week. He practiced Monday but said he wants a couple more before he gets into game action, he told Kevin Ding of the OC Register (http://lakers.ocregister.com/2010/12/06/bynum-feeling-great-but-still-wants-more-practices/44462/).

The Lakers play back-to-back Tuesday (Wizards) and Wednesday (Clippers) then fly to Chicago for a game. Smart money is on Chicago for the return.

Phil Jackson was hedging his bets a little and would not pick a date for Bynum’s return because, well, would you want to give Bynum another target date?

“He’s coming right along,” Jackson said. “He went through every aspect of practice.”

The Lakers pretty average team defense so far — 11th in the league in points allowed per possession — should be helped dramatically.

Bynum isn't that great of a player, but as others have said, he's obviously really valuable for them for a variety of reasons..

The Lakers' size is obviously their main advantage..without Bynum, they don't really have a significant advantage over the other great teams..adding a 7'2 player with a big body and athleticism would be huge for any team..

Ratliff won't stay healthy, and 21 Blessing's boy Caracter has no business being in the NBA..they don't have any depth at all..

The Lakers also need another offensive post threat, which Bynum gives them..more offensive options means that Kobe shouldn't have to shoot as much..Kobe is no longer good enough to consistently carry a team, so this is key..

Nope.

Besides, Chandler will transform back into Dampieresque form after Cuban hands him a 50 million dollar contract.

Caracter has a better argument than Demarcus Cousins at this point, with the way he destroys him every time they face-off. :lol

Bynum is a beast. If he was on your favorite team, including the spurs, everyone would be touting how good this guy will be. Before all these injuries, Bynum was easily becoming one of the best centers in the league. He is big, long, and strong. Great thing about Bynum is that he plays aggressively and tries to use his size to his advantage everytime. He's coordinated, plays defense, and he tries to dunk on you everytime. Too bad he is injury proned so early in his career..

Splitter on the other hand is a EUROLEAGUE MVP. I'll finish this post with that.:downspin:

Turn the Lakers season around? lol

Coming from a fan whose team's success hangs on the health of glass Argentinian ankle and the consistency of Richard Jefferson?

The San Antonio Suns are regular season fluke.

Blow your load early fellas, we'll be the ones fucking in June.
