I knew mark was gone

the new guys traded to make mark adjust at the plate and he did not like it
he looked very uncomfortable
sold him low but no more strike outs or homeruns

Different management, same old shit. Sell low on a player who is one year (and health) removed from putting up 40+ homers and batting .260 for one players not long for the bigs and a prospect who'll likely be middle relief.

I like Putz and his signing, but the Reynolds trade is an abomination. As bad as the Carlos Quentin trade a few years back.

Towers is banking on a solid crop of starting pitching and a much improved bullpen to be competitive. If they can add another decent arm, they'll have a good rotation with Hudson *(2.5-3.0 ERA), Kennedy (3.5-3.75 ERA), Enright (3.75-4.25 ERA), Saunders (4.0-4.25 ERA) and top-20 overall prospect Jarrod Parker (I want the other decent starter for injury and in case Parker's numbers need to be minimized at points).

Not saying it's going to work, but their bullpen was easily their biggest issue last season. If they ca bring in Lee for the 1B opening, they'll have a solid defense and will replace a 33% strikeout rate per at bat twixt Reynolds and LaRoche with just a 22% K rate. Diamondbacks got on base last season, but strikouts killed them. Both Young and Upton have potential to improve.

Still, I'm not optimistic. We better not fuck up the draft this year. It's incredibly deep with 5-star/4-star talent and the Diamondbacks will have like six of the top-100 picks, including 5 of the top-70 and the 3rd and the 7th overall. They hit homeruns with scouting and the spend the money to sign them, within three years the Diamondbacks could be back. Especially with some shrewd sell-high type trades with Drew, Young, Upton, etc...

Diamondbacks offered Konerko 3 yrs, $30M. Considered him special case. That money will not simply go to another player. #WhiteSox #MLB

Figures. They wanted him for the home-town draw, but he's not that good that his name will automatically draw fans just because he was a local product.

mlb D-backs GM Kevin Towers says that D-backs RF Justin Upton likely isn't going anywhere. Talked to 1 team about him at meetings.
