I don't know whether it is a good thing or bad thing for my fantasy team, regarding Melo.

I've never understood good players wanting to go to subpar teams just because of the market.

Evolving that it's merely the framework at this time. Wojo saying it's false.

Elnono - maybe he'll stick around long enough to beat you boys Thursday :)

He would be better served to go to the Knicks

If a trade is imminent they'll sit him out. Standard procedure in these cases.
If the deal isn't done by Thursday, it will be interesting to see if he suits up for the game. That'll be a good indicator.

Not fake, but some earlier reports and wording look to have jumped the gun on this. I think it's clear something is about to happen, just not looking like tonight.

Anthony-to-Nets rumor not true, Nuggets say (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/15/report-nets-nuggets-agree-to-anthony-deal/)
John Krolik

According to the twitter account of KGMH, the local ABC affiliate in Denver, the Denver Nuggets have agreed to a trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets (http://twitter.com/denverchannel). New Jersey has had Anthony in their sights for a while now, and the three-way trade the Nets made earlier today was seen as a precursor to a possible Carmelo deal.

At this point, this is just a report: trade rumor guru Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that a high-ranking executive told him that any report that New Jersey and Denver have completed a trade is “completely and utterly false” just minutes after KGMH reported that the deal was going down. About an hour before the report, Anthony’s official twitter account retweeted the following statement from “@TEAMCARMELO15″:

IF U FOLLOWING ME PLZ STOP WITH THE @carmeloanthony (http://twitter.com/carmeloanthony) RUMORS! I KNOW FOR FACT THAT EVERYTHING Y’ALL HEARING ISN’T TRUE. SO PLZZZ STOP!!

Obviously, it’s fairly hard to sort out exactly what’s going on with a potential Carmelo deal right now. We’ll keep you updated as we hear about new developments.

Update: According to Chris Tomasson, the rumor is officially false (http://twitter.com/christomasson/status/14916789041373184): “A Nuggets official said rumor is false. I just talked to Melo and he said, ‘It’s terrible. There’s no truth to it.’”

Tune in tomorrow for another episode of the Carmelo soap opera.

with melo on their roster, the nets could probably win 20 games total this season...that would be a win increase of +10. great trade for the nets if this goes through...

Melo also said he wanted a extension first, and supposedly he also has never said he wouldn't go to bulls or nets just knicks are first choose. I'm all for Melo not go too the Nets, call me crazy, but with other teams in the east Celtics, Magic, and Heat, Nets are fucked anyway till they move to Brooklyn with or without Melo. So I'd much rather keep Favors then trade him for Melo, Nets might suck now, but I can see Favors and Brook combo being better then Melo and Brook combo

Obviously. But at the time things were breaking, a good number of sources had it as a done deal. I tried to go back and edit the thread title but was unable to do so. As we saw, it progressed into a "framework is set"-type deal and then scattered even from there. There are still sources saying all of this is contingent in Prokhorov and Avery being able to talk Carmelo into signing the extension. Supposedly, people in Carmelo's camp have said that he's willing to do just so. George Karl skipped out on an appointed radio interview this morning, something that was set up for over a week and was to be part of an on-air charity effort. There's no denying that something is definitely buzzing with this. They're not out collecting 1st rounders and swapping players just for the sake of doing so. It's between them and the Knicks and, right now, the Nets have the better package and are awaiting word on the extension.

I wish it were possible for people to grow the fuck up and understand how these things work sometimes instead of claiming someone "owned" someone else or that an association with a favorite team has anything to do with a process like this. But it's the Internet and Spurstalk. It's to be expected. Maybe next time.

I think he was just saying that the deal wasn't happening. I didn't see him calling you out. Anyone who does is just http://cdn2.knowyourmeme.com/system/profile/icon/14135/small/TrollFace.png?1268417157ing you.

Personally, I don't mind seeing threads like this, especially if there are sources to back it up. It stimulates a lot of actual basketball discussion, even if most of it in a thread like this would be LOLing at the thought of Melo destroying his career in New Jersey.

It was a nice find at the time, and if you hadn't posted it Shank, someone else definitely would have.

Just posting a thread relevant article that I did not see posted yet. I'm not saying "owned" or that starting this thread was premature. It's fine. Relax.
