LMAO suns for thinking Turkoglu > Amare

In all fairness, Amare had been begging on and off to be traded...even while they were winning a fair amount of games. He just knew he wasn't gonna win a championship there and quite frankly only a few teams even have the chance each year, might as well enjoy where you're playing.

Suns had to get rid of him, you can't keep a player that doesn't want to be there for too long. But yes, Turkoglu was a weak trade. He would have fit in with the Suns system of the past, but without Amare, the system fails.... (Nash dribbling around in circles early possession, playing with multiple p'n'r attempts with Amare, drawing double teams, kicking out to wide open 3-point shooters...damn system could not be touched last year in the playoffs by the Spurs, was embarrassing)

ALVAREZ6

Amare is actually making this Knicks team better, I don't know if it's his team leadership or whatever, but I never thought I see Chandler and Felton play at this high of a level.

Wilson Chandler is quickly developing into a solid ass player...I notice his stats because he's on my fantasy team, and the dude does a little bit of everything...scoring, rebounding, blocks, steals, 3-pointers. Definitely the type of player I want on my team.

Amare is going to be +24 by the time this game ends.

I was thinking that too, when Amare subbed out, the Knicks lost their groove. Once he came back in, it felt like the intensity was back in there again. I don't know, this guy is somehow making this team and franchise look much better before our eyes :lol

ALVAREZ6
12-15-2010, 07:58 PM
It's pretty funny how Alvarez thinks he's an expert on everything. Yeah, Amare wants a championship, so he went from a team that made the WCF to a team that missed the playoffs. Makes tons of sense.
It's funny how you're not interpreting what I say correctly.

He just knew he wasn't gonna win a championship there and quite frankly only a few teams even have the chance each year, might as well enjoy where you're playing.

This was, like I said, earlier in the middle of the season. As I stated, he shut his mouth leading towards the playoffs for obvious reasons: past the trade deadline, might as well shut up and play and not hurt the team.

I don't necessarily think he believed he had a better chance with the Knicks, but my argument is since it is NYC, he'd at least enjoy that change..moving to the bball capital of the world, playing at the garden, hoping other solid free agents join.

ALVAREZ6
12-15-2010, 08:00 PM
It's funny that you're trying to act like you know everything but you couldn't be more wrong. Amare owns a business in Phoenix and had settled down there, he wouldn't just move for the hell of it.

LOL then why did he leave all that for the Garden, even after reaching the WCF???

ROFL so you found an article from some random source that couldn't verify anything? How bout you find a direct quote from Amare?

You ask, you shall...

Phoenix Suns’ big man Amare Stoudemire is fully recovered from his eye injury and is having a solid season, averaging 20.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. But apparently Stoudemire isn’t happy in the desert.
There is growing concern in Phoenix that he will opt out of the final year of his contract. I think Stoudemire makes his intentions pretty clear when he says he wants to play in a bigger market. With that in mind, the Chicago Bulls might just be the favorite to land him.
Whoever wants to get there hands on Stoudemire will likely have to be willing to part with some young talent, will have to be able to provide some salary relief, and will have to give up a draft pick. And then there’s one more thing. Stoudemire will have to be willing to resign with which ever team trades for him this summer.
Besides Chicago, the New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and even the San Antonio Spurs could be in the mix. The Nets are moving to Brooklyn in a few years so that might be big market enough for Stoudemire. Miami is likely higher up on the list considering he already has a place down there. Knicks’ head man Mike D’Antoni has worked with him before and New York is as big market as you can get. San Antonio may seem unlikely, but the Spurs are reportedly giving Stoudemire some thought.

Amare Stoudemire Talks About Trade Rumors, His Future and a Questionable Report
by Seth Pollack on Jan 21, 2010 4:43 PM MST in Phoenix Suns News

On numerous occasions Amare has said that winning is an important factor in any decision on where he wants to go but admitted today that market size also plays a role.

"Market size does play a factor. There's a lot of different factors. Being able to win and if you can't win this year then how long would it take to build it to win," Amare said. "It's all about being able to, and being willing to have a team that's willing to build a championship caliber team."

Over the years Amare has responded favorably when asked about specific cities including Washington DC, New York and most recently the New Jersey Nets who he considers to be a team with potential.

Hm. My C's could be a bit stronger on D, obviously. A'm'a'r'e shooting 10/13 = no bueno.

what was I bullshitting about?

LMAO, I have no reason to lie, if I was incorrect it would not have been intentional, as I clearly remember hearing about this last season...and my time frames originally given support my original argument...that he was making the noise in the middle of the season...january, february window... and he shut his mouth leading into the playoffs.

What's so outrageous about my my argument? Pardon me, not my argument, about this fact? The fact that Amare was considering leaving for a bigger market (NYC and obvious option), during a time (again, middle of season) where he didn't see himself in the western conference finals. Blow me please.

ALVAREZ6
12-15-2010, 08:26 PM
Alvarez, I know as a freshman in college you think that you have figured out life and are an expert on everything, but just take your bags and pack it up here. You clearly had no idea what you were talking about, Amare was always willing to sign an extension in Phoenix, Sarver just horribly misjudged how important he was to them and thought he was expendable.
I admit I was wrong on the language...I guess he wasn't exactly begging for a trade, easily admit to this. I don't think it was purely a black and white issue though.

Sorry for not remembering every detail about trade rumors on a player I could give 2 shits about, but Amare was undoubtedly disgruntled in some ways...he thought he was worth way more than the Suns could afford, and Amare not exactly being Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobili, meaning his paycheck is of highest priority (instead of willing to take a pay cut for the better of the team), he saw himself elsewhere.

I guess the real content I remembered from 10-11 months ago was Amare wanting a bigger market.

ALVAREZ6
12-15-2010, 08:29 PM
You weren't lying, you were trying to sound smart by talking out of your ass explaining something you shouldn't have tried to explain. He was asked about all the trade rumors in January and February (and there were a bunch of trade rumors that he didn't start at all). The media was basically asking him, "Since Phoenix doesn't see you in its future, where do you want to go."
I definitely see how I misinformed, but it was in no way an attempt to sound mart. Pure conversation, I know it's the last thing you guys want in the NBA forum...

He was worth way more than the Suns thought he was. As a result of that, he's feeding the Suns a shit sandwich everytime he steps onto the court this year.

I agree. But regardless of his true value, they weren't seeing eye to eye.

I'd love to have Amare on my team...but for the right price. The Knicks have always been in a position to offer whatever they want given their circumstances, at least in recent history...they desperately and finally changed paths this season. It's pretty weird thinking of the Knicks as a solid team, and if they end up landing Melo, things will have gotten that much more interesting in the eastern conference since last season. Totally different NBA this year, for once, the eastern conference playoffs might prove to be interesting.

Glad to get away with that one. Knicks impressed the shit outta me.

And I'm not really sure they need Melo right now.

If they want to be anything other than 1st/2nd round fodder they do.

Went to the game, crazy atmosphere..haven't felt anything like that at a Knicks game in years..

The last shot was pretty funny, because you could tell everybody was cheering hard, but holding it back at the same time..

LMAO who saw lil Nate flying into the ground after he tried to celebrate with Pierce. Someone make a GIF of that please. LOL Pierce running a lap around the court after his shot & they said one of them took a bow at halfcourt hahaha gotta love the fact that NY games actually have some buzz around them again. Btw did Amare think there was 2 seconds left on the clock or some shit hahaa he took his sweet ass time with that last shot.

WTF. how come stoudemire's .4 shot doesn't count and fisher's turnaround shot counts?

He took his time, but it seemed like that .4 went pretty fast. Felt more like .2 to me. Must've been more like .35 or something like that. Home court clock keeper didn't do his job.

Haha True, I thought it went by pretty quick too but Amare needs to understand that you gotta get rid of it quicker then that. Utah clock keepers would of starting the clock after the shot left his hands :lmao

Xylus, to be honest, do you think that playoff 2010 playoff series is where J-Rich got his confidence or what? Ever since the start of the playoffs, he's been tearing it up. This year, he's been playing well, maybe well enough to get maybe 3rd string in the Western All-star team. Too bad he didn't produce this well all season last year.

JRich was invaluable in last year's postseason. I'm not sure what happened, but once the first round began, he just started killing it. I think it just took him time to adjust to playing in a different offense. He went from being a more prominent ball-handler in Charlotte, to being just another weapon at Steve Nash's disposal. Toward the end of last season, he must have figured out that he could be Nash's best weapon.

He hasn't been our most consistent player this season (that'd be Old Man Grant), but he's definitely our best. As JRich goes, so do the Suns.

Ill say this I wasnt sure about max either ...because I thought he would not consistently have the explosion he hs now. But wow. I was really impressed on how much a better shooter he became after the injury.
Now he looks like he has much of the explosion back WITH a great touch from mid-range. Heck, he showed great form on the potential game winning 3 ...but his release was too slow. He squared, released at the top of his jump, kept his eyes on the target and followed through.

Would still love more defense but offensively he dirk and Pau are the
best PF's. Pau has the best post game. Amare is the most explosive and dirk the best shooter. Everyone harps on dirks' #2 but i would take butler, Kidd, chandler and terry over what the Knicks have ...right now.

Amare has to be in early MVP consideration with: howard, Dirk and Dwill.
To do what he did vs. KG and crew last night was impressive. Offensively Blake G should hope to develop offensively like amare. Though I do think Blake is a better passer and defender ...

I didn't think Amar'e would be worth the max due to his lack of D. Didn't think his O would be this good though, he's more than making up for it. Good call Xylus.

Knicks asked about time, but review wasn’t allowed (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-knicks-clock)

Coach Mike D’Antoni asked officials if they were certain how much time was left on the clock before the Knicks’ final possession of their loss to Boston on Wednesday night.

NBA rules prevented them from being positive.

Paul Pierce’s jumper broke a 116-all tie and the clock stopped with 0.4 seconds left. Video replays have shown the ball appeared to go through the net with 0.6 seconds to go.

D’Antoni said Thursday he asked the referees during the ensuing timeout “are you sure” the clock is right?

Amare Stoudemire then made a 3-pointer, but a replay confirmed he released it after the buzzer.

Officials can only use replay to determine how much time is left if the clock goes to 0.0 or if they clearly saw the clock not stop.

I do think it went in with .6. That said, I think that even with the extra .2, Amar'e might've hit the buzzer. Also, hard to get mad at the timekeeper that he missed .2 secs. That's a very small fraction of time.

I saw a screenshot on another forum that showed 0.7 seconds. Don't think it would have mattered though, assuming all factors remain the same.
