Players the Phoenix Suns lost due to penny pinching decisions by owner Robert Sarver:

First Team:

C - Shaquille Oneal - Traded for Ben Wallace who was immediately bought out to cut salary.

PF - Amare Stoudemire - Signed with New York Knicks after they offered 40 million more than the Suns in guaranteed money.

SF - Luol Deng - Draft Rights traded away to avoid paying rookie contract.

SG - Joe Johnson - Traded to Atlanta to avoid paying a max salary

PG - Rajon Rondo - Draft rights sold to Boston to avoid rookie contract (plus getting the extra cash)

GM: Steve Kerr - Quit after strenuous contract negotiations.

Second Team:

C - Kurt Thomas: Traded (along with 2 first round picks) to OKC/Seattle for a second round pick to avoid paying luxury tax penalty.

PF - Tim Thomas: Refused to offer full MLE and signed with Clippers (Lou Amundson honorable mention)

SF - James Jones: Traded to Portland for a second round pick to cut salary

SG - Rudy Fernandez: Draft rights sold to Portland to avoid paying rookie contract.

PG - Sergio Rodriguez: Draft rights sold to Portland to avoid paying rookie contract

First Team:

C - Shaquille Oneal - I dont think was a huge blow. He didn't fit well with the offense. Not a big lose to you guys
PF - Amare Stoudemire - It sucks you lost him. The Suns miss him

SF - Luol Deng - May have been a pretty good player for you guys.

SG - Joe Johnson - see Amare Stoudemire

PG - Rajon Rondo - I don't think he would have reached his potential if the Suns took him. He would be playing behind Nash, not getting the experience needed to become the great PG he is today. Plus he plays defense and back then the Suns hated defense.

GM: Steve Kerr - I dont know what he brought. Not familiar with his work. Ill take your word for it.

Ouch.

Exactly my thoughts. That first team would be pretty decent.
